I think the Check boxes are done that way to make it look more 3D? Although all around would look good to.

It should if you have the hyperthreading on your P4. It makes it so it works as 2 CPU's even if you have one.
I think if you go to System Monitor, under the Resources tab, it should show 2 CPU's running. When I boot up it only sayd 686, and I have the smp one installed.
