    None of the Xfce styles or Raleigh work, the gedit page tab tile space is black, the other style produce a readable file name. I am now using Bluebird

    I seems icons are not found by Thunar.
    The gedit problem seems more like a bug.

    Yes FE sound OK, but volume and mute do not work. (if i ever get a possetive result YOU WILL HEAR ABOUT IT).

    The simpler more convenient problem is to attack the HP BE local FE.
    It worked out of the box with 12.04 and is still connected with VGA cable.
    After installing 14.04 it lost Mute and Volume...

    I am surprised the changes with permissions and commenting out pcm.!default hdmi_complete has not changed things a bit.

    The lack of sound is my mistake, sorry. I brought the FE from the lounge and plugged it into a monitor in the study that bloke Murphy had put the sound volume right down. All ok with the sound now.

    No dot following cmd and without errors.

    Ran the following again, can now see the require change.
    Ran FE video and result is the same as before, video is fime but no sound, mute or volume...

    Could not see a change in /proc/asound/card1/*.
    Tried FE play video, result is no sound, volume or mute.

    To clarify, I have 2 hardware setups that suffer a common problem following a vanilla 14.04 mythbuntu installation.

    Tested all 4 but only speaker-test -l 1 -c 2 -D hw:1,7 -r 44100 produced sound.
    speaker-test -l 1 -c 2 -D hw:1,0 -r 48000 complained.
    It also worked with speaker-test -l 1 -c 2 -D hw:1,7 -r 48000.
