Here's lsof with a working, running window from the above referenced screenshot session:
kaixubuntu@xubuntu:~$ ps aux | grep ibm
1001 1994 0.2 ...
Here's my machine with a fresh install of Ubuntu 64bit, downloading the script and the rpm and installing it:
kaixubuntu@xubuntu:~$ which ibm5250
kaixubuntu@xubuntu:~$ ibm5250
ibm5250:...
I know this sounds stupid and Windows-y, but reboot the machine and try running
ibm5250
again from a terminal.
Here, start over:

Try that script and tell me if it works afterwards.
I *just* used it yesterday to install ibm5250 V7R1 1.0 on Linux Mint...
Well, that's odd...

Good idea, as you can see I started a long test. In the meant time, here's what she knows so far:

Set up a new md array yesterday. Saw this as it was finishing, should I be worried or is Linux going to work around the bad sectors from now on?

And I'd like one that supports a user list, although I'm not the first to think of this:...
I figured it out.
I had a "#" in my password. Change your password to something simple then test.
I'm having the same problem....
