    Re: Software Copy Protection

Just rename the archive files extensions to something else. Its roughly the best format of security. Secondly: They don't have the source code, so they can't actually sell good support.

Poll: Re: Poll: Do you take public transportation?

I'd rather not, as its horrible around here. Its only setup so the school students can use it, and beyond that its useless.
Its just a shame I have to.

Compitablity break EACH version update. 2.5 python does not work with 2.6 python, etc. There is a reason why applications on Windows, who is using Python usually is bundeled with Python, just to...
  6. [SOLVED] Re: Why are there not multiple companies that make parallel (unrelated) versions of W

Why are not there several companies making their own compitablity layer? The reason is quite simple: On the commerical side the lawyer mentality is one thing, another one is that a shop usually also...

Re: Canonical Pulls Financial Plug on Kubuntu

They also replace quite a few screws, with poorer ones.
Well, most of the problems is caused by the REPO freeze, and vanilla KDE is better than whatever modifications the ubuntu team ever made.

    Re: Linux BIOS Update?

Well, a BIOS update tends to be nice either way. I guess the reason they want you to update is because the first revision was shipped with hacks instead of working solutions at part of stuff like...
  13. Re: what's so great about Intel's cpus compared with AMD's?

Bulldozer beats the i7 at heavy server workloads. And that is exactly what it was suppose to do.
  14. Re: Life expectancy of a Flash drive being used for Swap/ReadyBoost?

If you have 8k of ram, you could "cheat" and setup a ramdisk as swap.
So perhaps you have 7 gigs of ram, and 1 gig of ram as "Fake cache".

    Re: speed up RAM

I think there is some kernel patch that enables you to run a really fast compression algorythm on everything that goes to RAM, which apparently works.

    Re: bookmarks and browser performance?

Amount of bookmarks is not a issue even on a Atom Netbook. Deleting them just convinces you that its good, so you get placebo.
  25. Re: SOPA, online piracy / privacy / rights?

Oh, it can. But the court battle will still take 1-2 years, and you need some insane amounts of funding for lawyers.
So basically you need to find and convince some rich people or organisations to...
