Why is this in "General Help"?
The screenshot looks fine here (but I haven't slept for over 24 hours now :P) - so I'd be inclined to think it's a graphics card issue on your end, can you tell me what graphics card you have?
Hi All,
I have multiple users on my network (we rent one computer room in a university) and rather than changing the privacy settings for each user I have told the front facing router to drop any...
oldfred, just wanted to jump in and thank you. I've been dealing with compiz crashing on my nVidia card for days now and it's drove me to the point of insanity.
index.html shouldn't be altered even if you add files/folders to the directory. Can you access the files directly? IE: http://localhost/randomfile.html - if you remove the index.html it should give...
Do you have the correct permissions to access /var/www ? You don't by default when you install LAMP.
You may have to install the modem drivers first, what's the make and model of your modem?
Need a lot more detail here, which program are you trying to install? Have you done "./configure" then "make" and finally "make install"?
What did you create the flash drive with? Does it have an MBR? When you say you see the disk image on the drive, do you mean you just copied and pasted it? If so... have a look at unetbootin, it...
It sounds like a graphics card issue to me... have you tried plugging your screen into the mainboard rather than the graphics card?
Hey Guys,
I think I've made a huge mistake (just bear with the explanation...) and I'm not sure how to fix it. I was trying to get Mac OSX (hackintosh) onto my laptop for some university work with...

Put a copy of the correct file into your home, then...

I tried to post this in the Linux section of the Skype forum last week, but it doesn't seem to have generated any interest, so I was wondering if you guys can help me?
I've just downloaded the...
Looks to me like Network Manager is having issues. What I'd do to test this is switch to a terminal (ctrl+alt+F1) then run "sudo service network-manager stop"
Then try to shutdown and see if it...
Hi thinktyler,
If you have an extra USB stick lying around, you might want to use Unetbootin to install a clean Linux on it in case you ever need it :)
That way, if the main OS decides to play...
Hi there, there are some recovery procedures you can try detailed in the help wiki here: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/LostPassword
Sorry, I misread. If you pull the latest it will not overwrite your changes locally, it will just tell you if there has been a clash.
Hmmm, either you're typing the username in wrong, or haven't typed the command correctly. The user may not have added correctly, which might be why you can't login...
Either way, let's try another...
Hey,
Is it a proper Windows 7 disk or is it a recovery disk? It should boot from disk regardless, even if nothing is on the hard drive or in the "boot sector". But HP might be using the typical...
Hmm... can you get me a picture? On a camera or something?
not passwd username, you need the actual username... for example
passwd john
passwd dave
passwd noah
It should then allow you to reset it by asking you for the new password twice.
This is going to a recovery job then, when you boot up and see the grub menu (keep hitting esc if you don't usually see the menu - and it should appear)
Choose the "Ubuntu With Linux {blah blah}...
