Thank you very much, that was exactly what I was looking for. I didn't realize I could append :i386 to request the 32-bit version.

Hi, I'm not sure if I'm just missing something or not, but I can't figure out how to install the 32-bit version of gtk2-engines-murrine in Ubuntu 12.10 64-bit. 32-bit applications aren't capable of...
It looks like either there was a problem with the download or with putting it onto the USB drive, or possibly a problem with the USB drive. The boot files appear to be corrupted.
Sorry, I didn't add sudo at the beginning, you need root privilages to run that command. ld is just a linker used by the compiler, it's not a folder that you can put libraries in :P
sudo ln -s...
Yes, this is possible. As to the where to install the bootloader, if you're using BIOS, then it has to be installed the same as for a dual boot. If you're using UEFI then you will need to put it...
Oh. That library was from an older version. You can try linking the new version to the old one to see if it will compile with the current version if you want:
ln -s...
You need the development files for ssl, you probably only installed the program files. Try
sudo apt-get install libssl-dev
What version of Ubuntu are you running?
Have you enabled any extra repositories/PPAs?
Also please post the output of
cat /etc/apt/sources.list
Wubi doesn't actually create a real dual boot, it simply installs Ubuntu as a program inside of Windows, so it is actually still on the same partition as Windows, as a file. The main problem with...
That box is simply searching your desktop for any files with that name. To shutdown/reboot etc. click the cog in the top right hand corner of the screen.
Only found fix was to just use 12.04.
Hi, I am attempting to install the x86-64 version of Ubuntu 12.10 on my desktop, but approximately 3/4 of the way through the install, it hangs and my display becomes corrupted. I have left it alone...
Don't know if this will help you, but you can try it. It's in the Arch Linux guide: Wireless
Yes, if you want to JUST use an ethernet cable, you need a crossover cable. (The send and receive lines are switched on one end). Otherwise a switch, hub, or router is required.
Is that drive in a more enclosed section of your case? Is it covered in dust? Those are two reasons they sometimes get hotter.
There's probably a more elegant solution, but you could go startup applications and add metacity --replace there.
You can use
mount to see what filesystems are mounted. The reason you're having problems is because you're trying to unmount /dev/sda instead of /dev/sda1 (Or whatever partition number is mounted)
sudo is to reference root for command line programs, gksudo is for graphical apps (In Gnome). Are you sure you got the case correct for the folder you're trying to move? Linux is case-sensitive.
It partly depends on your graphics card, what drivers you're using and if you want to mess with a config file or use a GUI program. If you're not using proprietary drivers and want to use a GUI, go...
Are all three monitors at least showing up in the settings program? A lot of graphics cards have three outputs but still only support using two at one time.
Personally, I would stick with Nvidia....
blkid should tell you the label, UUID and partition type.
You should put that in /etc/grub.d/40_custom so you don't lose it every time Ubuntu has a Kernel upgrade.
That would be an rss feed most likely
1. It will be in /etc I always used proftp, so I don't know the filename, just use
ls /etc/*ftp* and you should find it
3. That makes it sound like FTP isn't actually working at all and you're...
Weather, currently playing, disk usage, CPU usage, network traffic, RAM usage, internal temperatures, top processes for RAM and/or CPU, and a clock are common things in conky setups.
