Loving the embedded terminals this month!
Love it. It's nice to see people embedding terminal windows in their desktop.
I was wondering if I could get some recommendations for some monochrome icon themes.
The only requirements I have are that they are light grey/silver colored as they have to show up against a dark...
Which dock and theme is that?
Sorry I ddin't reply sooner, you need to follow these instructions: http://lifehacker.com/294005/embed-a-terminal-in-the-desktop-with-compiz-fusion
Or if you can't use compiz you can try and work...
Nice, I don't know why more people don't embed a terminal in their desktop, it looks sweet and if you use linux you've almost certainly got one open all the time anyway.
Figured I'd post what I've got so far, I like it.
Themes: Ambiance w/ panel transparency fixed, and panel handles deuglyfied.
Wallpaper: InTheDarkRedux edited to make yellow anthers...
Simple, don't use refit, it's useless just hold alt at boot, uninstall that and you should be golden.
I would beg to differ, it MIGHT be equally reliable to OSX but they share the same main issue in my opinion: Flash (yes it sucks and I hate it but it still makes me suffer so I mention it).
Other...
The specifics depend on the versions of windows OS and ubuntu OS that you are using, but in general get all three installed (OS X should be there already) and make sure you can boot windows, while...
No prob! I dealt with this exact problem recently, what you NEED TO DO is grab a live CD/DVD and pop that in, load up the desktop from the disk and use gparted to DELETE THE LINUX PARTITIONS...
Ok so this "works" as in it changes the plist values at the right rate and to the right values, but the desktop doesn't update when the plist is changed, so what can I do to get that last bit...
I've updated what I'm working with to the following, any advice would be welcome.
#!/usr/bin/osascript
on run
tell application "System Events"
set theDesktopPlist to property list...
Ok, so I found this applescript somewhere, and not knowing applescript I was wondering if someone could tell me what the edits I need to make to duplicate the functionality found in the perl script...
It depends, much software is available that duplicates the functionality available to me through OS X/iLife/iWork which to me would be crapware (with the exception of firefox, I can't stand any...
To add in my situation, I have the backports installed (2.6.31.20.33 same as gcndavidmn) but I see no sliders at all in gnome-alsa-mixer. I also tried the other method (compiling from source it...
So I figured I'd give a heads up to anyone out there with a MBP 5,3 who updated/wants to update to kernel 2.6.31.20, none of the documented or forum fixes work to get the sound up and running on this...
Thanks for the advice I was hoping that this wasn't the case, oh well, something for the future I guess.
I was wondering if it was possible to edit a theme in such a way as to remove the background color from windows so that they would be completely transparent (most of the window would simply not be...
To remove old versions of linux (old kernels it turns out) you just remove the "image" and "header"s in synaptic related to that particular kernel (make sure that each new one works before removing...
I wanted to achieve what you seem to be aiming for too, however the reason I didn't complete this project was that Apple uses a non-standard proprietary branch of EFI that doesn't play nice with...
Sorry I haven't been around to reply, I know the instructions say to use refit, (I just copied and pasted them because they're not mine to edit) but you can safely (as I do) skip that.
Actually you probably have it but you probably auto installed FFMPEG which means the wrong flags were set, if you search there are tutorials for installing with the correct flags for proprietary...

Some good reading for you.
If I could I would kill Flash in a heartbeat, the number of headaches I've had to deal with due to Flash greatly outnumber any other software at a ratio of almost 2:1.
Long live HTML 5, may your...
