  1. Re: [HOWTO]: Use Pan with Stunnel4 Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)

Thanks 43moon for the howto, and meekatron for mentioning the special port.

As meekatron said, if you use giganews, you need to set the connect to :

[ubuntu] Re: 8600 GT and Nvidia driver problem

Did you log in (in low rez) and see if nvidia-settings gave you an error or not?

That's a key piece in knowing whether the driver is installed/working and if we just need to tweak your xorg.conf....

[ubuntu] Re: 8600 GT and Nvidia driver problem

Yes, you'll have to be doing it as root (which the 'sudo' will accomplish).

When you log in (in low res mode) can you launch the 'nvidia-settings' program? You can run it manually or find it in...

Poll: [all variants] Re: Nvidia - Is it really that serious?

    8600GT (512MB dual head), x64 system.

Works well after tweaking (about 5hrs).

I briefly tried Compiz, with failed results, but my dual monitor (TwinView) setup is working and I'm getting...

[ubuntu] Re: 8600 GT and Nvidia driver problem

    1) Doing the chmod won't matter, assuming it let you execute the binary driver installer (you would've gotten 'permission denied' if not).

    2) It looks like your xorg.conf isn't set up for the...

Yeah, if you've got the know-how or the time to figure it out, I'd highly suggest you keep your "system" (root) on one partition and your /home on another. That way if you ever need to do...

Shouldn't be able to, assuming you don't reinstall GRUB and lose your boot manager. An online upgrade shouldn't touch your partitions at all, and it doesn't touch your boot loader (except for...

Here's what I did to fix the "reinstall nvidia drivers after every reboot" problem:

    Stop GDM:

    sudo /etc/init.d/gdm stop

    Remove all things nVIDIA:
