For example I type in www.hp.com and it directs me to http://www8.hp.com/uk/en/home.html.

I live in the US and when using Chromium on Ubuntu 11.10 it defaults to UK sites. This is not the case when I use Firefox.

Has anyone else had this issue? If so how did you solve it?

This may not help at all.

I was having issues with youtube playing correctly in firefox on ubuntu 11.10. I uninstalled gnash using:

sudo apt-get remove gnash

Now youtube plays correctly,...
