  1. Re: Fresh 10.10 install, homebrew ir blaster no longer works

It's been a while since I played with Mythbuntu, but I found I had to
sudo dpkg-reconfigure lirc to get my homebrew receiver working whenever I'd done a fresh install. This should sort out the...

    Bye

Just wanted to drop by and say goodbye.

I first started playng with Mythbuntu/MythTV back in early 2008. I quickly got hooked, and within 6 months had a 3-tuner backend in the loft with two...
  3. Re: New frontend install of 10.04: no log files, frontend crashes after several minut

    OK, I'll have a stab.

What's weird is that every frontend-only install I've ever done has had the fault...
  4. Re: New frontend install of 10.04: no log files, frontend crashes after several minut

OK, that sounds like a challenge to me. I'll give it a go when I get a chance. Myth is on a bit of a back-burner right now, as I just don't have time for all the shenanigans when it decides to just...
  5. Re: New frontend install of 10.04: no log files, frontend crashes after several minut

/var/log/mythtv not being created in a frontend-only install has been present since at least 8.04. Not sure why it's so hard to fix...

As you say, though, it's just a case of manually creating it....

    Re: Audio Sync

In fact, I've found that if the audio drifts, a quick pause/unpause sorts it.

Re: Continuous recording of live TV

If it's really that important to you, why not just leave it in LiveTV, and turn the set off instead when you want to stop. You can set it to time out after a programmed period (say 1 hr), but...

Re: irw and serial lirc (homebrew) in Karmic Koala

Sorry, I should have been clearer, in:
    # remove sudo password for pm-hibernate
    frontend ALL=NOPASSWD: /usr/sbin/pm-hibernate

The 'frontend' in the above statement is the user that you wish to...
  10. [SOLVED] Mythweb on SmartPhone can't schedule recordings?

    Mythbuntu 9.10.

Having just got a shiny new Android phone, I thought it would be good if I could use Mythweb to schedule recordings etc, basically everything that I can do via Mythweb on a normal...

Care to share where you got that little snippet from? I'm eagerly awaiting delivery of an HTC Desire, and would really like to have Mythweb on it.

Re: irw and serial lirc (homebrew) in Karmic Koala

It should definitely be in /home/david/.lirc, especially if you ran the mythbuntu lirc generator, that's where it puts them.

You did mention that your a bit of a Linux noob, so pardon me if I'm...

Re: irw and serial lirc (homebrew) in Karmic Koala

You'll need to use irexec for that. Now here I had a few issues. It seems that the LIRC init script looks to see if ~/.lircrc exists and fires up irexec for you.
This is good, but every time I've...

Manual record from LiveTV doesn't pad.

I have my recordings set to pad by 3 mins at the start and 5 mins at the end, and this works fine.

But. If I'm watching LiveTV, and decide to record what I'm watching for later, the recording ends...

Re: irw and serial lirc (homebrew) in Karmic Koala

Might be that you need to change the I/O or IRQ settings for your COM ports in the BIOS, or pick another port when you reconfigure lirc. I *think* the usual settings for ttyS0 (COM1) are 0x03f8 and...

    ooh, tetchy aren't we?

I stand by my opinion that Mythbrowser is pointless. It's very hard to get Flash to work with it, and the 10-foot web experience sucks (IMEHO). Perhaps next time, I'll keep...

Sounds more like a hardware/driver problem with your SATA card. Perhaps you'd be better off posting in the hardware forum.
