Re: Being marked as member or developer

    Thanks a lot. Looks good!

Re: Build a package without patches

There will be an include in the rules file, deleting that line should do the job. Something like "include /usr/share/dpatch/dpatch.make", but obviously different depending on the patchsys used.

    Re: Multiple Series Changelog Conventions

A usual way is to append ~release~ppaX (assuming you're uploading to a ppa), for example foo_0.1-0ubuntu1~jaunty~ppa0 is less than ~karmic~ppa0, but you can still issue new revisions for each release...
  5. Re: How to see the ./configure options for a binary package?

You cannot see this from a binary package. What you want to do is download the *source* package using `apt-get source package' and then have a look at debian/rules as was mentioned above. It might...
  6. Re: dpkg-gencontrol: warning: unknown substitution variable

Alright cool as long as builds fine then there shouldn't be any problems. All that those warnings mean is that no helper has inserted any dependencies in those substitution fields. Nothing to worry...

[all variants] Re: Apple Touchpad: Improved Experience.

    Hi,

How do you mean "work"? I have this package installed and dropping policy files into the /etc/hal directory seems to have no effect. For example I cannot run any syn* program because they say...
  9. Re: Adding shortcut automatically with .deb package

You want to install a .desktop file into /usr/share/applications. Check this page.

[ubuntu] Re: Major help needed - not sure what's wrong

Why Knoppix as opposed to a Ubuntu live cd?

[ubuntu] Re: Major help needed - not sure what's wrong

Sorry to hear this. You could try a Live CD to get at your files and then copy them to a USB drive. That should work if the HDD is fine.

Re: How come no updates in Hardy yet?

That's not strictly true. Regressions/other bugs can also cause new package versions to be uploaded. See here for more info.

[ubuntu] Re: Flame away windows + other f-x

If you install simple-ccsm then run "Simple CompizConfig Settings Manager" from System -> Preferences, you can find all sorts of options to change Compiz's behaviour. Look in "Animations" for the...
