Could this be a Kernel problem? My last update where the problem started had an update for the kernel.
That did not work. All have fglrx: conflicts with fglrx, drivers, updates, NVidia updates etc. It also said I have broken packages.

Hi oldfred
I tried this:
Make Linux use 'Local' time
To tell your Ubuntu system that the hardware clock is set to 'local' time:
edit /etc/default/rcS
add or change the following...
ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ fsck
fsck from util-linux 2.20.1
ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ sudo e2fsck -C0 -p -f -v /dev/sdb1

I ran fsck from the DVD and nothing changed. Is there anything that I can copy from the disk to fix problem?
I understand running fsck in terminal with the live DVD after that I am confused.
Is there anyway to speed up this slow entry? Are there other options? I'm using a i7 processor and 16 Gbs of DDR3 memory.
