I have a gazelle professional that the built-in microphone wasn't working on- this sounds bizarre but plugging my headphones into the microphone jack and then unplugging them actually made it work....

This fixed it for me- at least for the time being. Can you help me set it up so it does it automatically when I log in?

  4. Re: LaTeX not loading packages such as float, fonts

At long last, this is solved. Since my old computer failed, I got a new one which can run Ubuntu 13.04. 13.04 repos contain the latest-greatest version of texlive and a vector font of cmbright.
    So,...

Re: no suitable mode found - login loop

I would be willing to put that kind of effort into fixing it if it didn't have other problems, namely the issue of not booting into a live environment.
I sucked it up and ordered a new computer- I...

Re: no suitable mode found - login loop

When I try to go to the terminal using that key combination, it simply hangs on the no suitable mode error.

As for the bios- I will go download that .iso and give it a try but I don't think it...

no suitable mode found - login loop

    Hello-
I have an old-ish Pangolin Performance 5 from System 76. Around the middle of last semester (so, maybe two months ago) I decided to go back to Ubuntu from Arch Linux. However, the installer...
  10. Re: LaTeX not loading packages such as float, fonts

Ok, that is a good idea. I will open a new thread.
  11. Re: LaTeX not loading packages such as float, fonts

So, it downloaded and installed with no problem. I tried to follow the instruction to edit PATH (which is a function I am wholly unfamiliar with and doesn't seem to be well explained anywhere) by...
  12. Re: LaTeX not loading packages such as float, fonts

Well, the download just finished (82 minutes!) and it is downloading now so hopefully I will know soon?
  13. Re: LaTeX not loading packages such as float, fonts

Something must be wrong with my texlive install after all as, I don't seem to have the tlmgr utility:

    sarai@sarai-laptop:~$ tlmgr install cmbright
No command 'tlmgr' found, did you mean:

Look, I mayded a gtk/openbox theme! Well, more accurately I modded the living daylights out of existing themes. But I still think it looks pretty cool.
