Re: AMD video acceleration (mythbuntu 12.04)

I don't see much the point of using VAAPI to be honest.
Any intel processor supporting VAAPI is more than capable to do everything in software.

And you'll get better quality video (better...

Re: AMD video acceleration (mythbuntu 12.04)

What did you expect? you don't do any deinterlacing, so of course it will be an uninterlaced image

If using ATI, enable the Tear Free Desktop , this gave me perfect playback.
    but is rather...

Re: AMD video acceleration (mythbuntu 12.04)

I thought this thread was about vaapi ?

VAAPI does do interlacing: linear and bob. That's it.

Have you thought of checking your antenna cable?

Because that's what the problem is: you've got no signal

Re: AMD video acceleration (mythbuntu 12.04)

It does do deinterlacing: Bob and Linear :)

But yeah, I totally agree. For a HTPC, and even for any PC going to run linux, nvidia is the way to go
  8. Re: Start frontend with diffent settings (audio options)

What a complicated and convoluted way. It's certainly not required to do any mysql stuff.

Go into mythfrontend and select the hdmi audio card, configure it with all the options you need: AC3, DTS,...

[SOLVED] Re: SPDIF Out Audio vs. RCA

    No.

The issue is with ffmpeg (and still is in today's version). It doesn't properly respect the Dolby rules on how to deal with audio levels.

In 0.24 and later, downmixing is not done by...
  10. Re: Will there be a 0.24.x back port for MythBuntu 12.04 ?

First, that bug is actively worked on as it's a blocker and what has delayed mythtv release by a week.
Second, this is only for a specific decoder and analog TV only.

    I would assume most use...

    Re: Black video with audio

    They are two different thing.
One tells mplayer to use vdpau for the decoding, and the other to use vpdau for the rendering.

You do not have to use both at the same time; you can perfectly do...

    Re: Mythtv Themes frustrations

    Agree with graphite.

With Arclight however, all the "empty" space as you call it has its use and if you had fanart information properly working, you would see the fanart of that particular show...
  13. Re: Is anyone else getting stuttering output with "Waited 100ms for video buffers" Er

Those options should be left alone in 99% of the time ; the only time I've seen forcing 48kHz useful is with some old audio card that reported they supported 44.1khZ when they didn't.

    If using...
  14. Re: external player won't play video if mythfrontend is open

    Is mythfrontend doing anything?

If sitting in the menus; the mythfrontend doesn't use the audio card. so it's available for any other applications.
When using ALSA, as a rule of thumb, only one...
  15. Re: Choppy Video & ALSA buffer underruns, Myth .24

if you want passthrough to properly work; this is the device you must use (or hdmi something). Using a device like "default" will never 100% work: it's just a matter of luck if it does.

Note that I have committed those changes to fixes/0.24 now so make sure you upgrade to very recent (e.g. made in the past 12 hours) version of mythtv.

    Re: Playback using VDPAU stuttering

VDPAU is far more picky as to what it can actually decode as opposed to the software decoder.

There are limitations related to the size of the video being played, the encoding profile used etc......

  19. Re: Choppy Video & ALSA buffer underruns, Myth .24

Any particular reason you are forcing the output to 48kHz?
your audio card only supports 48kHz to start with and report as such.

That settings is in the "advanced" option for a reason: there...

    Re: VDPAU plaback uses cpu

    The logs are rather obvious.

Too many reference frames. VDPAU only support some h264 profiles. Re-encode the video with different providers

    Re: VDPAU plaback uses cpu

    Probably not using VDPAU then..
Check the log with -v playback, you're likely going to see some errors that vdpau couldn't be used and as such is defaulting back to software playback.
    Likely...
