Correct me if I'm wrong, but Artificial Intelligence and Surlent777
are both referring to the *.bin package.
The *.deb package must be installed system wide.
And regardless, it still does not...
RE: Shank
I forgot to mention that running either launcher or executable of Shank does the exact same thing. No output, or just the "Installed in '.'". Also, the update of shank came in a deb...
Got every game to work except Shank. (Ubuntu 10.10 x64)
Even installed the update they had.
If running the launcher that they provided it just says:
$ ./Shank
Shank: Installed in '.'.
If I...
It appears that there has already been a bug reported, and it claims to be fixed.
Here it is.
Here's the gist of it:
Please make sure you have network-manager-applet 0.9.1.90-0ubuntu6 installed;...
What I find weird is that it was working before... right?
Anyways, I found others complaining about this device on Oneric.
From here, the last post:
"create a one-line file...
...I didn't know that was possible... other than deleting the driver. I'm pretty sure they're automatically assigned.
Check that it is physically turned on, and then try these two commands ...
Hi,
That's really a bummer. What did you do? It's possible that you hit a switch (hardware or software) that just disables it... Try right clicking on the network manager and checking if Wireless is...
Okay!
I have more ideas.
For the ad-hoc, try following this guide.
Here is the important section to try:
Wireless Ad-Hoc connection sharing scenario
Step by step guide:
dnsmasq-base has to...
Does the ad-hoc connect to itself at least?
Does the network manager show the connecting state (the spinning thing)?
Maybe you have to tell it to connect?
How far is it from connecting?
As for...
So for the ad-hoc, when you create the ad-hoc connection, it should show as connected to its own network. I found this to work using the shared to other computers. Have it "Connect automatically". On...
Ubuntu 32 bit doesn't "handle" more than 3 GB of RAM.
However, if you install the PAE kernel, you will be able to use all of your ram. See here.
What version of ubuntu do you have?
Also, this...
I do have LirbeOffice and I use it, but I found that when working with others, and when I need to send them Word files, there are less compatibility issues when using Word, specifically with drawings...
From what I understand, you want to create an ad-hoc network, to which your other computers can connect to, and then share files.
I would change the IPv4 settings to "Shared to other computers"...
I was only borrowing the cam... after that I returned it...
Interesting thing is that when I first plugged the cam in and tried to run lsusb, nothing would happen. It was as if lsusb froze. It...
Consider zRAM too. It compresses RAM in order to reduce the amount of swap. Not sure how well it works in Ubunbtu atm though.
It's never happened before though and I'm curious if it's the cam.
And there was only one non-Linux app (Office).
Chrome and Skype have their own native versions.
Thanks anyways.
Check the sources.list (/etc/apt/sources.list).
You can use Software Sources Manager (not sure if you can find it in Unity...)
bump?
Hi,
I was casually working (had Office 2007 in wine, skyping using cam, and browsing internet with chrome) and all of a sudden the screen starts to pixelate, skype repeats the same sounds over and...
OOOPS. Nevermind. The symlink made dir2ogg start from a different directory.
Thus, it converted some wav files before the wma's.
Turns out only the wma's cause problems.
At least I can convert...
Symlinking didn't work. See next post.
I never thought of that though! (didn't even know you could cross-partition symlink)
LOL yes it is mounted.
I mounted it with nautilus.
It can be accessed fine, except dir2ogg doesn't work on the files.
Hi, I'm trying to convert a massive amount of audio files (specifically wav and wma) to ogg.
I figured that dir2ogg is the best option because it can recurse through directories, making my life...
