    Re: Americas army

There's no package for America's Army. The current (2.8) version is for Windows only. Latest for Linux was 2.6 if I'm correct.

    Re: java j2sdk?

You may ask backports developers for adding it to the repository.
There's a quick guide if you want to create a Debian package by your own:

    Re: Motorola softmodem drivers

You can always use alien to convert RPM, TGZ, etc. packages to DEB ones but it may not work if you install them then.

    sudo alien -d <some_package.rpm>
  6. Re: HOW TO: get a free speed boost from your hard drive

I can prove it on my machine. With IDE as a module copying large files around the system is incredibly slow.
  7. Re: HOW TO: get a free speed boost from your hard drive

Your performance may dramatically increase if you recompile the kernel with IDE compiled in the kernel instead of as a module. On the other side, your new kernel may not boot at all which is not that...
  8. Re: The latest gnome java binding is not provided in Hoary!

libgnome2-java is not part of the official GNOME desktop. I don't think it should matter which version it has. If it works with GNOME 2.10.x... :)

Btw, the latest version in Debian Unstable tree...

  12. Re: HOW TO: get a free speed boost from your hard drive

Yes, SATA devices are handled using SCSI subsystem so hdparm doesn't work with them.

Re: How To: Install nVidia 7167 drivers on Hoary

Partially. nvidia-kernel-common is still at 6629 version so my xserver refuses to start. (sure, downloading the package from Debian makes things running) ;)

    Re: ipchains and port forwarding?

Ipchains does not support forwarding ports, use ipmasqadm and portfw.
I recommend you to upgrade your machine to use iptables instead.
