I assume its a tar.gz file so you just untar it using

tar -xvz <filename>

cd to the new directory and find if there is any install script , if there is none try
./configure
make
sudo make...

As I understand you want to find a,b for:

(a+b)^2 = a^2 + b^2

This is only possible if a=0 ( any value of b) or b=0 ( any value of a )
