From what I'm seeing is it still 1.022 in Ubuntu 10.04
(and my sound doesn't work, am trying t intall 1.023 but it doesn' t compile due to package name change.. )

I have an MSI S420 with a realtek alc883 onboard.
I upgraded from ubutu 8.04 to 10.4 recently, The sound worked in 8.04 although the mic did't work and the same thing in 8.10 (i went...
ok just added the files to /etc/modules and one thing for sure, still no sound.
the weird thing is the sound did work in 8.04 out of its own, ill look into how that could be.
Well mixed results, with the driver that is provided by(?) realtek.
For Ubuntu; it has to be installed by hand, this is not easy.
