    Gnome3-Session

Gnome3-session package's version has changed from 2.28 to 2.30 in Debian Sid.

Which means I've had a play with Gnome Shell in my Lucid install (from Ricotz's PPA) starting straight from GDM.

Re: XBMC for Lucid (It says for Karmic or higher?)

    I used the karmic ppa
also had to add the ubuntu karmic repo (main and universe) to my sources so a couple of libraries could be installed (libcdio7 libfaad0)

then either remove or complete remove.

    Synaptic will remove...

Any processes I can easily get rid of to speed this up? Seems like a lot

EDIT: Now 43 secs - rebooted with 2.6.32.18 and ureadahead must have kicked in

    Re: HAL removal.

When I try to remove HAL from synaptic, it offers to remove the kubuntu-desktop meta as well, so I guess we're just talking ubuntu here?
