In my opinion, using 32 bits software is using half the power of your cpu.
Ok.
Not only.
Indeed. I made a mistake on my keyboard.
LTS : every 4th release of a cycle, even if it is not an always-true law.
Sorry to be so short but this is a lot of nonsense.
Why ?
1) Since 2006, every single CPU from AMD / Intel are 64 bits.
2) 64 bits distros are really usable nowadays.
3) Sure, you know...
LTS releases : 3 years of support on Desktop, 5 for servers
Other releases : 18 months on Desktop. Servers ?
Good luck. And don't forget to ask questions if you need some infos.
If you want simplicity : wubi.
If you want power and stability : dedicated partition.
Gutsy is dead. You should move at least on Hardy Heron or to Jaunty Jackalope.
It is not officialy released as a beta version. 3.5 beta 4 will be released before end of this month. I think Firefox 3.5 will be released in june, or even in september. Not before.
Of course. If this person knows how to boot in "fallback" mode and knows how to remove the "buggy" version ;)
This question is asked every 6 months or so ;)
The only big issue is flash. Java - OpenJDK - works perfectly in 64 bits. Been using linux distro in 64 bits since Ubuntu Edgy Eft (6.10), and it is far more simpler since 8.04...

False. Ubuntu 6.06 will be soon left for desktop and I think a little after 9.04 release.
If you want a long-term support (3 years), try 8.04 LTS.

The cleanest way to upgrade - if you have a lot of 3rd party repository is to to a clean install.

64 bits processor and 64 bits ubuntu jaunty. No big problems so far.
No data lost since I used ext4 on my main partition. But doing backup is something mandatory.
OC = it is like killing your CPU. Try to do a clean install of your ubuntu. Maybe it will work better.
And there will be buggy drivers - or am I wrong - for some nvidia hardware, like GeForce 7000M which only give black screen. I have to use nvidia 173 driver on my jaunty since alpha4 days.
It will be available. it could be a great mistake to not make it available.
Looks like your CPU is a 32 bits one.
Here is the cat /proc/cpuinfo of my AMD64 cpu (dual core, showing the first one only) :

Strange that you cannot play these files. Try adding medibuntu repository.
