Well, you should see lots of improvement as it is one of the objective (if not the main one) for 13.04. They are discussing it at the UDS.

I have noticed that while in grub (was trying to boot in command line) the f5 and f6 function keys are working, if it can help solving it !

dont even need to do this, a printenv SSH_AUTH_SOCK= showed a different path upon reboot and still, Filezilla connected !
not at all, in fact, dont even need to go to edit -> settings -> sftp
Thing I did tho was to set :
SSH_AUTH_SOCK=/home/username/.ssh/id_rsa on my computer.
Will reboot and see if it revert...
