  1. [SOLVED] 18.04 now boots to terminal login. What do I do?

    I just upgraded but instead of launching the GUI it boots to a terminal login. I read about using startx but that has to be done each time and I haven’t seen anyone post a fix. Any Ideas?

    If I login with the default Unity desktop, it renders fine. If I pick a gnome desktop, it's back.

    I use the Gnome Flashback (metacity) desktop. I'm not familiar with the wayland session. Is that what you asked?

    Yes, you are correct. My hard drive just spins and spins every time I switch windows or open/close something.
