  1. [SOLVED] Re: Mangled grub2: another dead UEFI (but I can boot manually)

sdc has ha FAT32 as the first partition, I can see it from Windows.
sdb has a 100mb NTFS partition as the first.
sda has just a 1TB NTFS partition.

I don't know how my setup came to be in terms...
  2. [SOLVED] Re: Mangled grub2: another dead UEFI (but I can boot manually)

sdb is an ssd that was partitoned by Windows 7 during installation. I didn't do anything else, so I suppose the number and kinds of partitions are what Windows thought necessary to function on my...
  3. [SOLVED] Re: Mangled grub2: another dead UEFI (but I can boot manually)

Ok I must admit I cried too soon :)

    All manual attempts failed.

Then some site recommended trying boot repair (from a custom repo).
I did and now everything is fine, including my UEFI boot!!!...
  4. [SOLVED] Mangled grub2: another dead UEFI (but I can boot manually)

    Ubuntu 12.04 x64
So the other day some auto-update crashed my boot config.

here is my setup: SDC is where linux is, I manually choose the boot device.
    Meaning I...
  5. Static virtual serial ports and their control

So I'm able to create temporary virtual serial port pairs with socat and they work.
But since I have to simulate a software running on a real robot with real serial ports, I can't always do the...

    [ubuntu] Re: Dual Monitor Woes

I found in my case (desktop 7970) the solution was to ditch the HDMI output and use the DisplayPort.

[ubuntu] Re: Radeon 7970 and multimonitor

Yeah, really, as if I didn't know ;)
I tried doing the same but it did not work until I changed cables today.
That has probably to do with the segmentation of the frame buffers: DVI and DP are...

Re: Signals, Interrupts and all the rest

    Of course not, VB.NET.
C is not even supported under .NET.
Although I think you can get away with a mixed bag of C++ and C# to exploit both worlds, but I never tried.

    BTW thanks for your...

Re: Signals, Interrupts and all the rest

So you're confirming me that the only way to generate custom events in C is to use SIGUSR1 and SIGUSR2?

That is unfortunate as I'm confined for this project to either C or C++ but I'm most...

Signals, Interrupts and all the rest

    Hi guys.
I'm mainly an embedded C programmer, thus I continously make use of hardware interrupts to synchronize different segments of code.
In an embedded device you have some n timer interrupts...

    [ubuntu] Re: Dual Monitor Woes

No hangs, just that 3D acceleration is disabled, thus some effects don't work (transparency) and the antialiasing on fonts is wrong, but the configuration sticks at boot.
It may all be confined to...

[ubuntu] Re: Radeon 7970 and multimonitor

Not only that: running Xinerama (Catalyst 12.6) effectively disables 3D acceleration thus leading to many ugly graphic disfunctions.

Really: am I the only one with a 7970, 2 monitors AND...

Thanks to a suggestion I tried the Xinerama option: it works, meaning the bigger screen maintains its own native resolution, but the transparency effect (and possibly others) get glitchy as the...

    [ubuntu] Re: Dual Monitor Woes

I have the xinerama option, but strangely enough the transparency effects get glitchy with it enabled: the launcher isn't transparent anymore, it's just black.

I reverted to the Catalyst 12.6, if I set the two screens to the same resolution, spanning the desktop works.
But then after a restart, the bigger monitor gets reset to the "preferred resolution"...

So you say 12.1 is supported, but at this link you can clearly read they have no support for the 7970.

    I'll still try installing.

You mean that I have to lower the resolution of the larger monitor to the same as the smaller one?
