    Whenever I think of "cheap hardware RAID" I think of all of those used Dell PERC5/i on eBay. They are pulls from working systems. It is a rebranded LSI Megaraid 8408, and it doesn't get any cheaper....

    Partition and format your new drive
    Boot to single user mode
    Unmount /home if needed
    Move /home to /home.old...
