    [ubuntu] Re: Wi-Fi stops working

yea I'm also seeing something similar, haven't checked the logs though, but I will next time it happens.

    [ubuntu] Re: Acer Timeline 3810T

seems it wasnn't the heat that was causing the wonky mouse.. it was actually from installing gsynaptics. None of the settings were honoured in the program and perhaps it conflicted with something. ...

    [ubuntu] Re: Acer Timeline 3810T

yes this is an interesting suggestion. I'd like to know more about this too.. the fdi file I tried worked a bit, until the device heats up, then it goes bonkers. so maybe changing order of devices...

Re: HOWTO Fix A Buggy DSDT File

Thanks for this guide, I think it can help me out as well on my dell latitude D620.

    I received 1 error, 9 warnings, and 7 remarks.

this seems a bit out of my realm. Here's my dsdt.dsl...
  11. [all variants] Re: switched to dell from asus, overheating

    well I solved the issue.

I had previously added the nohz=off option in grub for the Asus, due to a bug that ran ksoftirq/1 at 15% of my cpu constantly.

so, I removed that, and now running...
  12. [all variants] Re: switched to dell from asus, overheating

I put a windows harddrive in, and its fine in windows, and I double checked the heatsink and everything. so I don't think its an issue with the laptop, but rather the modules or settings.

    I...

to sum up first: my Dell D620 laptop, is running hot since I switched from an asus. average idle temp is above 60C, and can get up to 95C by loading a couple programs.

Re: Wow. Kubuntu 9.04 is going to be terrible.

Alt+F2 works for me, on both a clean kubunbu alpha3, and installing kde 4.2 from the ppa in intrepid.

I think kde4.2 will be big, I switch full time to it already after trying the kubuntu jaunty...
  16. Re: Jaunty Internet Connection sharing works great!

thats very true.. plus anything to make things quicker and easier is more than welcome. especially iptables related
  17. Re: Jaunty Internet Connection sharing works great!

it must be a gui (I'm running jaunty, but with kde), since internet sharing is already a commandline setup and has been there for as long as I can remember (ip forwarding and such fun stuff).

    If...
  18. Re: pulseaudio does not work, reverts back to intel HDA analog (kubuntu)

follow... installed alpha 3.. and now everything works correctly.. so it musta been a bad day to get a build when I did..

    thanks for the help all..
  19. Re: pulseaudio does not work, reverts back to intel HDA analog (kubuntu)

nope, same error, I'm going to try the alpha 3 disc and if that fixes it, I'll know its a problem with my install.

It must be that, since this card has worked for as long as I can remember...
  20. Re: pulseaudio does not work, reverts back to intel HDA analog (kubuntu)

thats a good point, I just downloaded alpha 3, so I'll give that a try, .. if its fixed via that I'll post it up (which I bet it will)
  21. Re: pulseaudio does not work, reverts back to intel HDA analog (kubuntu)

would it make much difference to install alpha 3 off a disc over installing updates? heh, I guess it would if you have the same card and it works fine..
  22. Re: pulseaudio does not work, reverts back to intel HDA analog (kubuntu)

hmm, it must be something from a bad update or perhaps I got the daily build from the wrong time.. I guess I can wait until the beta's out for sound and try it again if no one has any idea how to fix...
  23. Re: pulseaudio does not work, reverts back to intel HDA analog (kubuntu)

    gives me:

    $ alsamixer -Dhw
ALSA lib conf.c:2700:(snd_config_hooks_call) Cannot open shared library libasound_module_conf_pulse.so
ALSA lib control.c:909:(snd_ctl_open_noupdate) Invalid CTL hw

  24. pulseaudio does not work, reverts back to intel HDA analog (kubuntu)

running since daily build from a few days ago, with all the latest updates installed. (64bit version)

I have sound, but I can't adjust the volume, which is just barely noticable in a silent room...
