Which kernel version, if you don't mind my asking?
Can you find out what they did to patch it, and get them to submit it upstream?
That's a running issue. tl;dr is that some nimrods way far upstream are sticking their fingers in their ears and refusing to issue a patch, and claiming that its Dell's problem to fix.
Ok, so having finally gotten up off my butt to test this, I've got some pretty good news.
On Lubuntu, at least, the power manager issues seem to be intermittently fixed. I say intermittently...
I can make a few guesses, but most of them involve hid-multitouch being excessively new and needing a lot more testing.
Dang it, now I'm going to have to try that again. Under anything prior, trying to plug or unplug while suspended always gave me a black screen of death.
From what I gather, the answer is most likely to be "never fix." The BIOS issue is officially a Dell problem, according to the kernel folks upstream. Ubuntu can patch it easily enouh, but from a...
Ain't that stupid. Took me two hours to figure it out.
Type CD and then the path to the folder that contains the setup script. For example:
CD /home/hgrahamcull/Downloads/Sample_Folder
Helps if you remove spaces from the stack of folders, though....
You have to CD into the directory before running the setup script, or you get that error. That's the step that nobody seems to remember.
It does. I think the current version is AO2 or something like that.
Wouldn't be the first time that hardware has behaved strangely on a reboot. I had an Acer Aspire One whose wifi would crash at the hardware level; I never found out why, but I think it was something...
You can supposedly run it from a FreeDOS boot USB, but I'm still a little hesitant about it. Too many horror stories about failed BIOS flashes bricking someone's system.
Edit: What the heck, that...
You can't flash the BIOS on Linux; you need to either assemble a flasher using FreeDos, a USB stick, and the flasher itself; or be running Windows. This is one of those cases where a hardware...
I think I'm still running AO6; its a replacement motherboard but its still pretty much stock. You'll have to excuse me; I'm 200+ miles away from it. Its running Precise, though. The only thing that...
Ok, got the touchscreen to work finally, but the ACPI is still hammered to hell and back. Editing the local.rc worked, when the same command didn't from the touchscreen. No freaking idea why.
...
Sounds like a cop-out if you ask me. Flashing the BIOS is the worst thing you can do to a computer; I've heard more horror stories of failed BIOS flashes than I have successful ones. So instead of...
There's a bug filed on it in Launchpad, but it has nobody assigned to it and it only has medium priority.
Thanks, I'll try that. I was about to declare the bloody thing a total loss and go back to my big old Inspiron 15.
Edit: Can you give me a step-by-step for Ubuntu or Kubuntu? I got to the point...
If you're using Precise, the touchscreen isn't working. I've filed a bug, but I get the feeling that the kernel isn't being compiled to provide the input services required. The developers are in an...
See if you can't run eGalaxCalib or whatever the calibration app is called. That might fix things. Otherwise, we're at my limit of expertise and you'll have to wait for someone more skilled.
D'oh, forgot to remove the setup.sh from the CD line. Try it again like that?
cd /home/shuckle/Downloads/eGTouch/setup.sh
Try this. (edit: BEFORE running the setup.sh script) It always works on mine.
On the issue of touchscreens and graphics, I don't use one for...
Got another bug to report; this one for the black screen I get on trying to wake from sleep. If any of these bugs affect you, please list yourself as being affected (and register on Launchpad if...
