Well, I now can say that the same problem exists under Fedora 10 (the new KDE 4 RC flavor). I'm now wondering if this is being caused by KDE 4...that would seem to be to be the obvious similarity...
Gizmo...I have the exact same machine. If I find something that works, I'll let you know.
I'm still getting no joy on this issue. sudo modprobe sisfb doesn't work, and neither does adding sisfb to /etc/modules. Sometimes after about 3 cycles of sudo modprobe sisfb and restarting X...
sudo modprobe sisfb doesn't seem to work for me.
Weirdly, though, if I open a virtual terminal, then hit ctrl+alt+del and reboot that way, my machine restarts with the display working properly...
Never mind.
This thread:

seems to have fixed the problem.
Sorry for the thread necromancy - I've only just had time to sit down and start trying to fix this. I'm making no progress, and figure I'm just going to dump Kubuntu. It's so frustrating...I've...
It's just a SIS M760GX integrated graphics card on a fairly cheap laptop (I think; will double-check when I get home). I'd think it was an LCD problem, except (a) it doesn't happen at all when I...
Just bumping this to see if anyone has any ideas where to start looking. I had some success by jumping back to an older kernel, but as of today, the problem happens there, too.
If anyone has any...
I upgraded to Kubuntu 8.10 over the weekend. It intially looked exactly as advertised, but now when I boot up, about 2/3 of the time, I get something that looks like this:

Sorry for the very un-technical subject.
Upgraded to 8.10 last night. Went perfectly. Looked GORGEOUS. Shut down for the night. Now this morning, I've got what I think is a Plasma problem. ...
Something wacky's going on with Keep. I set up the directories I want to back up, I set up where I want them to go (external hard drive), and then I click "backup now."
And then nothing happens....
Weird. I fiddled with my router, based on various Googling. Tried setting it to WPA AES instead. Wouldn't connect. Turned off security. Wouldn't connect. Turned it back to what it was (WPA...
Your scripts have saved my butt in the past - thanks in advance!
My wireless light is on, and my card is detected, and it can see my network, but I cannot connect with WPA (even using WICD). So...
Not for nothing, but I just wanted to post that I set up my 2070N printer and got it working first try by doing nothing but going to System > Administration > Printing and using default everything.

Quick and dumb questions:
I used this script under Dapper and Edgy; it worked great.
When upgrading to Feisty, I was happy to see that the native bcm43xx driver seemed to work right away. The...
Quick question before I run this script.
I'm an Acer user (don't mean to brag), and I used your previous scripts for Dapper and Edgy with no problem, but I don't recall having to use special...
For some reason, Firefox has been crashing on me a TON lately...like 3 or 4 times a day, so I just started using Opera, and I must say, I like it a LOT. The features are cool, it loads pages wicked...
Is the acer_acpi thing new? Because I have an Acer 5002, and the script for Dapper worked perfect, first try, and for Edgy, well, not so much.
EDIT: Ignore the above. I discovered the...
Quick question: I used this script to get my Broadcom card up and running. Been working perfectly at home and most places I go. Today, I'm hiding from my kids at a coffeeshop, and I can't connect...
edit: never mind
I don't think it matters. Mine is eth1, and it's working fine. Wish I could answer your other questions.
Well, a few days later, everything's still working. I heartily endorse this script!
Two questions:
1. I know that one glitch is that network manager always shows 100% signal strength. Is...
AudioScrobbler sends data about what you're listening to to your user page at Last.fm (which is currently down pending a rollout). It's the kind of thing that starts off as a novelty, and then about...
Does Listen have AudioScrobbler support? It looks gorgeous.
