  1. Re: Possible Successful hacking attempt to my Ubuntu machine?

Having an exam in the next few days and I can't risk re-installing everything from scratch. I will do that in the next few days.

  2. Possible Successful hacking attempt to my Ubuntu machine?

    Hi all,

I accessed my Ubuntu (not so secure server) this morning and accessed it via VNC to see (for the second day in a row) that my Chrome browser had a Western Union page loaded in it with...
  3. [ubuntu] Re: NTFS Drives are Read Only in Ubuntu 13.04

Unfortunately, none of the methods mentioned above worked. It kept brining a message stating that the volume can not be mounted when I first boot Ubuntu.

I've provided the output of all the...

    Dear all,

I have been facing two problems with 13.04:

    Guys, anyone?

    I can't believe no one uses headless 12.04 :)
  7. [ubuntu] Re: 'Device not ready' state to all of my network adapters

    That's good to hear mate.

I've applied a lot of tweaks to m system so installing 12.10 is out of the equation at this stage.

    Thanks for the feedback :)

  10. [ubuntu] Re: Headless 12.04 Only Displays 800x600 resolution in VNC!

    It is.

I will try that once I get a monitor to plug it to the server.

Meanwhile, I would realy appreciate if someone have successfully run 12.04 on higher resolution than 800x600 on...
  11. [ubuntu] Re: Headless 12.04 Only Displays 800x600 resolution in VNC!

I created the xorg.conf file and added the driver in the 'Device' section but the PC still boots up with 800x600:

    [ 26.828] (II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/intel_drv.so

  12. [ubuntu] Re: Headless 12.04 Only Displays 800x600 resolution in VNC!

    Hi cbraxton,

    I don't have a 'xorg.conf' file under /etc/X11/ folder.

Am I supposed to create one?

I use the built-in Intel drivers on my motherboard so I haven't installed any drivers....
  13. [ubuntu] Headless 12.04 Only Displays 800x600 resolution in VNC!

    Hi all,

  15. [ubuntu] Re: 12.04 freezing/crashing randomly on Intel Ivy Bridge CPU/ AsRock Z77 Pro4 Motherb

Yeah that sounds good! I assume 'synaptic' the similar to 'Add/Remove Programs' in the Control Panel of Windows!

On a side note, it looks like that Kernel 3.4 has eliminated the weird symptom...
  16. [ubuntu] Re: 12.04 freezing/crashing randomly on Intel Ivy Bridge CPU/ AsRock Z77 Pro4 Motherb

I just updated the kernel into the 3.4, but I won't be able to test it until the weekend.

As I mentioned before, the machine runs fine when there is no monitor/projector/AVR connected to it.

    On...
  17. [ubuntu] Re: 12.04 freezing/crashing randomly on Intel Ivy Bridge CPU/ AsRock Z77 Pro4 Motherb

    Hi!, Mesopotamia,

    Hi bogan!

It had the same symptoms where the random freezes occur. The only advantage of using a monitor though, I was able to see it booting even after the grub stage.
  18. [ubuntu] Re: 12.04 freezing/crashing randomly on Intel Ivy Bridge CPU/ AsRock Z77 Pro4 Motherb

    Hi Bogan,

    Thanks for your response.

I'm a new Linux user so most of these commands don't make any sense to me.

On the other side, I agree, I should have posted more details about the type of...
