  1. [ubuntu] Re: Neither BIOS nor Ubuntu are displayed

Resolved -- I switched to the other DVI port on my monitor (there are two) and this one works. I don't know what happened to the other one, but oh well.

    Thanks for reading anyway. :)
  2. [ubuntu] Neither BIOS nor Ubuntu are displayed

    Hello!

I am using an AMD 790x chipset motherboard, the ASUS M4A79XTD EVO (and the ATI Radeon HD 4670 graphics card), and the Ubuntu LiveCD is not displayed on my Dell Ultrasharp 2408WFP -- and...
  3. [ubuntu] Re: Installing Lucid + ATI Radeon Xpress 1250

I don't really know how to help, but I guess I can point you to this Ubuntu Wiki page: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RadeonDriver. It seems that your card is indeed supported by the open source...
  4. [ubuntu] Re: ATi Proprietary Drivers "fglrx" Cause Xorg to Hang During Boot

Never mind... the problem still persists. With the fglrx drivers, on one hand, the system hangs when normally booting. On the other hand, when booting into recovery mode, the screen just has a row...

[xubuntu] Re: stuck at 800 600 nvidia

Which version of Ubuntu are you using? What type of screen is your friend using? (e.g. CRT, LCD)

And if you can, can you tell us what graphics card your friend has?

    Even without that...
  7. [ubuntu] Re: ATi Proprietary Drivers "fglrx" Cause Xorg to Hang During Boot

Yes, that is what resolved the issue. I'll edit my original post to include the console command which fixed the issue. :KS
    dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg
  8. [ubuntu] Re: ATi Proprietary Drivers "fglrx" Cause Xorg to Hang During Boot

Huh... I type in fglrxinfo into the console, and I get back information stating that I'm using the driver:
    display: :0.0 screen: 0
OpenGL vendor string: ATI Technologies Inc.
    OpenGL renderer...
  9. [ubuntu] Re: ATi Proprietary Drivers "fglrx" Cause Xorg to Hang During Boot

I actually think that this might be an Ubuntu problem, for when I typed apt-get remove xorg-driver-fglrx into the console, there was nothing to remove... maybe the restricted drivers installer broke...
  10. [ubuntu] Re: ATi Proprietary Drivers "fglrx" Cause Xorg to Hang During Boot

    Thanks for the workaround guys!

... But don't let that stop any of you other guys from coming up with a solution! :KS

    That worked! :D Thanks!!!
  13. [all variants] Re: Configuring A Wacom Tablet In Lucid Lynx (i.e., Area)

Alright, after a thorough digging-around, I found that the file that (apparently) needs to be changed is /lib/udev/rules.d/69-xserver-xorg-input-wacom.rules. That appears to be the extent of my...
  14. [all variants] Re: Configuring A Wacom Tablet In Lucid Lynx (i.e., Area)

Neither of those threads contained enough information. :(

I figured out that I need to edit /usr/lib/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-wacom.conf... but I don't know how to edit; or, that is to say, what to put...

  20. [gnome] Lack of Automatic Syntax Highlighting Based On Extension in Gedit Upon Opening Files

Hey, guys. If I recall correctly, Gedit used to automatically highlight a file based on syntax upon opening a file. If it had done it before, then it no longer does it anymore.
