  1. [ubuntu] Re: Getting cupsys-common error when I try to print using Adobe Reader on ubuntu

    Update: same update, same problem, same fix, still amazing.
  2. [ubuntu] Re: Getting cupsys-common error when I try to print using Adobe Reader on ubuntu

    Update: I saw that the software updater updated my Samsung drivers again yesterday, predictably, this same thing broke and I used the same fix I listed above to fix it. Amazing.
  3. [ubuntu] Re: Getting cupsys-common error when I try to print using Adobe Reader on ubuntu

    This problem still exists. Other programs print just fine and using lpr from the terminal works. I have a Samsung printer, so I eventually fingured out I could just bypassed my printers custom "lpr"...

    [ubuntu] gnucash masks input for Aqbanking Wizard

    Ubuntu Natty
    gnucash 2.4.2

    Have used gnucash across the past couple of Ubuntu distros, and while the online banking features stopped working about a year ago for me with my specific banks, I...

    [ubuntu] Re: Vim syntax highlighting broken after upgrade

    Thanks very much for this. I had the same problem with updating to Natty except my path was /vim72 and changing it to /vim73 fixed my highlighting.

    I suspect it could be a bug in fact with...

    [SOLVED] Re: gksudo forgets password immediately

    I think I figured it out. What I was thinking was a bug in gksudo is probably a design flaw in mobloquer. Gksudo in a terminal works correctly:

    $ gksudo nautilus /home
    $ gksudo nautilus /home ...

    [SOLVED] Re: gksudo forgets password immediately

    Right, I'm familiar with that behavior. Sorry if I was unclear however, forgetting across different terminal instances but remembering for the default 15 mins in the same terminal instance is exactly...

    [SOLVED] Re: gksudo forgets password immediately

    $ sudo -V
    Sudo version 1.7.4p4

    I'm on Ubuntu Natty. What's different now about it?

    Thing is I use gksudo so infrequent that this wouldn't be to much of a problem. But when adding and removing...

    [SOLVED] gksudo forgets password immediately

    This occurred sometime in the past couple of days, perhaps because of an update that I just blindly accepted or due to some tinkering of my own. But for some reason, my gksudo never remembers the...
  11. [ubuntu] Re: System boot hangs at battery check after upgrade

    I can confirm this was the same thing I did. I installed the nvidia-current drivers because, frankly, who's ever satisfied with slightly older drivers that are proven to work just fine?

    I too was...

    can confirm that this worked for me. This happened after an update and what was working normally just stopped working even though I could too see the sound bar moving and nothing else changed.

  16. Re: A challange I found -- how would you do it?

    not all valid arguments are tautologies. A valid argument is one where the conclusion is valid under at least one interpretation. A tautology is true under ALL interpretations (that is, it's negation...

    [SOLVED] Re: CPU Usage in idle 18-23%...?

    I had this issue too. If you look at the contents of /etc/init.d/smfpd it shows you everything you need to know to "disable" it. Uncomment the "exit 0" like it says and you should be good.

    [gnome] Re: Rhythmbox plays two songs at once

    This is a relatively old thread and this is still a problem for me on meerkat. My crossfade is enabled but set to 0, I'll try disabling it for a while and see if it still comes up.
  19. [gnome] Re: Transparent Gnome tray icons have white background!

    Thanks Jesuis, I'll have to check that out when I get a chance.

  22. [gnome] Re: Transparent Gnome tray icons have white background!

    This issue is so weird. I want to think that the applet itself is causing it, yet it seems that the individual programs can do something to their own icons that can then fix it. VLC fixed itself and...
