  1. [ubuntu] Re: Malibal Lotus P150EM-SE (Clevo P150EM / Sager NP9150) Keyboard

Did you ever find a solution to this issue? I now have this laptop and have the same issue.

[ubuntu] Re: 1333 MHz DDR3 or 1600 MHz DDR3 Memory?

It's better to spend that money some other way - either more memory or upgrade to a SSD if you haven't already. It's very unlikely that your system's bottleneck is in your RAM speeds.

[ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu on Thinkpad T530 with Nvidia Optimus

The official drivers don't support optimus. If you want to use your dedicate card, you must use bumblebee.

Re: ubuntu 9.04 not compiling anything!

I highly recommend upgrading from 9.04, as it is unsupported and will not receive any updates. You shouldn't notice any significant differences between the older release and a newer release with the...

[all variants] Re: AMD/Intel Hybrid Graphics works !

I am looking to purchase a NP9150 (Clevo P150EM), with Intel HD Graphics 4000, and a Radeon HD 7970M. The external video outputs are attached to the Radeon HD 79790M, but the laptop LCD is attached...
  6. [ubuntu] Re: In Search of a video card to run 3 monitors

    Status Update:

I bought an AMD Radeon HD 6770 a few months ago, and was able to get triple monitors working without much trouble.
  7. [ubuntu] Re: In Search of a video card to run 3 monitors

    Status Update / Bump:

I ended up buying another Nvidia Geforce 210 graphics card, and I can get all three monitors working in Ubuntu 10.04, but without desktop compositing (compiz) in a triple...
  8. [ubuntu] In search of a video card to run 3 monitors

I'm curious to know what sort of video card I should purchase to power 3 (or possibly 4) 1920x1080 monitors. My first instinct was to purchase a new Nvidia card, as I have had zero troubles with...

    [ubuntu] Re: FreeNx

FreeNX does not require X11 to be running, and will work fine on Ubuntu 10.04 without a keyboard or mouse.
  10. [SOLVED] Re: Ubuntu didn't autoset for Daylight Savings Time

There is nothing wrong there. Your hardware clock is actually set to UTC, which is recommended if you only have one operating system (usually Linux) installed. I will agree that it saying "EDT" for...
  11. [SOLVED] Re: Ubuntu didn't autoset for Daylight Savings Time

Is the time changing when you are using your computer normally, or does it only change on rebooting?

Please run "date && sudo hwclock -r" and post the output here.

    This will show you the...
  12. [SOLVED] Re: Ubuntu didn't autoset for Daylight Savings Time

That means NTP is already running and managing your clock for you.
If you want to manually sync your clock, run:

    "service ntp stop"
    "ntpdate pool.ntp.org"
    "service ntp start"
  13. [ubuntu] Re: PHP cli scripts not running in background, works on other distro's - what to do?

The -q parameter suppresses any headers that PHP would otherwise output (eg: for a HTTP connection).
  14. [SOLVED] Re: Ubuntu didn't autoset for Daylight Savings Time

You need to specify a server to sync time from. Try "ntpdate pool.ntp.org" instead.
  15. [SOLVED] Re: Disk resize failed, now Windows won't boot

I have used testdisk in the past for situations similar to this, and it has been very helpful.
I already checked the results of my restore from backup, and everything is fine!

    Thanks for your...
  16. [SOLVED] Re: Disk resize failed, now Windows won't boot

I got my system back to a working state by reverting to my backups.
I will have to take another go at resizing disks at a latter time.
  17. [SOLVED] Re: Disk resize failed, now Windows won't boot

Windows identifies the disk type as RAW.
testdisk shows all the data on the drive, so I haven't lost any work.
There has to be a way to get this back and running.
  18. [SOLVED] Disk resize failed, now Windows won't boot

    Hello,

I am running out of disk space, so I decided to resize Windows 7 on my first hard drive, so I could add another ext4 partition to put data on.

However, gparted threw an error during the...

[all variants] Re: Ubuntu and the Toshiba NB300 / NB305

I just turn my machine off every time when I'm done using it now.
I use full disk encryption so suspending poses a security risk.

I recommend against doing this. Disabling nohz and highres will cause your netbook to draw a large amount of power, resulting in short battery life.

I found a better fix for suspend/hibernate that doesn't drain power down.
