It created, but still doesn't want to mount.

:( That didn't seem to work. Can I mix sd[bde]1 and sdc?
asdf@DESKTOP-7UFBOTC:~$ sudo mdadm --stop /dev/md0

 Sorry, double tap. Posting not playing well right now.
OK, cool, that got me a RAID, but it doesn't want to mount. (wrong fs type)

Thanks for the reply, heres the output of those. I think originally I created it on the partition, but it has been a while.

Does Ctrl-Alt-F1 bring up the terminal window?
I had a 4 disk mdadm RAID 5 running on my old server when the motherboard failed. It was old enough that no replacement mobo's are available. I built a new system and moved the disks into it and am...
FWIW I'm having a very similar issue. I was tearing my hair out for 2 days trying to figure out why my ethernet connection on my Mac was FUBAR. WiFi worked fine. Finally I tried to SSH into my 12.04...
See THIS THREAD. It details all the steps pretty well. Be sure to read the whole thing, there are some errors in the initial bit.
FWIW, I've been having the same problem. vmlinuz-3.2.0-25-generic fails to boot on a headless server. When I select -24 from the grub menu it works perfectly.
I've tried to roll back and reupdate...
Yeah. SO glad Grub did it for me. I would have been screwed. I now have multiple backups of my entire boot drive. :)
Yeah, great fun trying to figure out WTF a "system_call_fastpath+0x16 0x1b" is and why I could no longer boot my system.
Was a good learning experience, though. :p
I think something is broken...
Both excellent suggestions. Thanks. Considering how many times I've rebuilt this thing already doing individual disks will be simple. After that 2x raid 1 then add in more disks and see what happens....
Well. Crap. :( I can drop a single instance of my music directory on it and it seems to do OK, but when I drop it into 2 separate directories at the same time the RAID starts failing disks. Back to...
Possible problem found!!! (hopefully) I took the whole machine apart and started futzing around. I had the SATA cables beautifully routed and bundled but when I started wiggling them they looked sort...
Thanks, I'll fire off a nastygram to Jetway and see if they can help me test it somehow.
OK. I see. I wonder if maybe it could be, not necessarily a 'bad' mobo, but that it can't handle a full load on 4 drives concurrently.
Sorry, I shouldn't have used the term 'thread' in this...
There is no controller per se, they're all plugged directly into the motherboard.
The drive failures seem to be random between sdb, sdc, and sdd. I don't actually recall if I've had sde drop out....
/var/log is the directory that all your log files go into. It will simply continue to grow as various programs log their various messages. If you want it to not grow you need to turn off logging in...
How do I do that? Is it a BIOS setting? I currently have the BIOS set to IDE, the only other option I have is AHCI and that, from what read, shouldn't make a difference. Could it?
PSU is a...
Update. I completely reconstructed the RAID from scratch including repartitioning all drives. Created an new ext4 file system.
Began a TM backup which failed about ~10% of the way through....
OK, thanks very much for the help. Guess I'll order a couple cables and see how it goes. Then completely reformat all the drives and start again from scratch. Hopefully a clean slate can help.
Ideas?
