Did anyone ever get a solution, besides using Window$? Seriously, that's the best we could do?!

I second - this fix cured the issue as described. Cox, nbcolympics.com, hal, google chrome/chromium, xubuntu.
Having same issue.. It's something with network-manager, resolvconf, or dnsmasq.. Can't figure out which.. And yes, related to those bugs.. But how?
BUMP.. same problem on lenovo u550.. did you solve? how? suggestions? also, filed bug report.. but no help/cure yet..
