[SOLVED] Re: Better alternative to GIMP

No doubt about the power of Gimp, but the UI is frustrating to use for even simple tasks. The Help is not very much help! I frequently have to Google how to do even a simple task. I use it maybe...

Here's a "gran dosis" of good Karma for you!

I've dealt with RAID for years on both Windows and Linux and have been 100% Linux for eight years. I just bought a new Asus ZenBook UX51 which comes...

    [SOLVED] Re: pcmanfm won't launch

Same problem for all of my systems.

Actually, this isn't solved, you just found a work around.

I'd like to know why this is happening and why it wasn't reported in beta testing.

  6. Re: HELP - I can ping Google, but cannot update/upgrade Ubuntu

Can you reply with a little more detail on the errors?

For instance, if you're getting something like:
    Temporary failure resolving ‘security.ubuntu.com’

it could mean a DNS issue.

    But...

[lubuntu] Re: Messed up application menu

I run LXMenu on all of my systems so I can make menu changes using the GUI approach. You might give it a try, I've long forgotten where any of the files reside as this takes care of it for me.

[ubuntu] Re: Noob question. 12.04 alongside Xp Ok?

    That doesn't make sense. I am running 12.04 on a 2004 Toshiba laptop/Intel Pentium M 725 / 1.6 GHz and a 2006 Dell laptop/Intel Pentium M 755 / 1.73 GHz. And am posting this on the old Dell.

[lubuntu] Re: Mint MATE menu under Lubuntu

The quick answer is no. With Lubuntu, you are using the LXDE desktop which is much lighter than the Gnome desktop.

So you have to choose Lubuntu with LXDE or use Mint with MATE.

:D Yep....I went to answer and JKyleOKC had already taken care of it.
And, I've held my tongue on the hard left turn into the brick wall regarding not going the UUID route.

You didn't mention if you are running or have disabled macros. That's the first place to look for bad guys coming out of the MSFT Office into the Libre Office.

[ubuntu] Re: How did a spammer get my address?
