  1. [ubuntu] Re: NVidia over HDMI through Onkyo AVR => "corrupted" video output

    Here is the xorg.conf:

    Section "ServerLayout" Identifier "Layout0" Screen 0 "Screen0" 0 0 InputDevice "Keyboard0" "CoreKeyboard" InputDevice "Mouse0"...
  2. [ubuntu] Re: NVidia over HDMI through Onkyo AVR => "corrupted" video output

I did a few modification to the file by hand after using the nvidia-settings (which asked me for the root/sudo password to overwrite xorg.conf), removing xorg.conf does go back to the default...
  3. [ubuntu] Re: NVidia over HDMI through Onkyo AVR => "corrupted" video output

Indeed, I'd rather have every ouput seen by the AVR as what it is.
I'd really need a pass-through without losing the ability to have multiple inputs mixed in when necessary. I don't know if that's...

Hopefully a quicker fix than reinventing the whole sound chain like this:

    Anyone made any progress? :)

  7. [ubuntu] Re: NVidia over HDMI through Onkyo AVR => "corrupted" video output

I already had the latest PPA NVidia while testing...
The TV and AVR are on before for sure (with so many reboots hehe!)

So uhm, not too sure what to try anymore...
    - with UseEDID "False" I get...
  8. [ubuntu] Re: NVidia over HDMI through Onkyo AVR => "corrupted" video output

Well, cloned display kind of worked, I still have to switch the TV input though...

  9. [ubuntu] Re: Force a screen resolution in Ubuntu when using UseEDID False

Well well, I just got around to trying this and it didn't work with the following config:

    # nvidia-settings: X configuration file generated by nvidia-settings
    # nvidia-settings: version 290.10...
  10. [ubuntu] Re: Force a screen resolution in Ubuntu when using UseEDID False

That sounds interesting, I'll give it a shot tomorrow!
For now I have both DVI(TV) and HDMI(AVR) plugged in and, with nvidia-settings, even managed to get an overscaned 1920x1080 (cloned output)...
  11. [ubuntu] Re: NVidia over HDMI through Onkyo AVR => "corrupted" video output

I tried pretty much everything I could understand within 12 hours...

So unless there is a way to force the output to 1080p60 without EDID or anything else, I think I'll have to try something else....
  12. [ubuntu] Re: Force a screen resolution in Ubuntu when using UseEDID False

I'm having the same issue with an HTPC using a GTX460 (Zotac) through an Onkyo TX-NR609 to an Insignia NS-PDP50HD-09.

Directly to the TV it works but not through the AVR where I can only sometime...
  13. [ubuntu] Re: NVidia over HDMI through Onkyo AVR => "corrupted" video output

    Hi papibe!

I didn't think about that, thinking it'd be happy with a desktop signal, unencrypted...
Is there a way to enable/disable/make this work? I'll look around in the mean time...

  14. [ubuntu] NVidia over HDMI through Onkyo AVR => "corrupted" video output

    Hi,

I'm trying to put the final touch on an HTPC (Ubuntu 11.10) setup by getting the sound digitally to my AVR (for quality and multi channel purpuse).

Sounds seems to work but video is...

Has this been submitted to the upstream kernel developper responsible for that driver?
So we could hope to get this in the next release... :-)

it doesn't seem to work for me and thus makes this useless as it totally kills the touchpad, not just tap-to-click! :)
