    My EDR threw up an alert last night on my Ubuntu 22.04 web server.

    Cron wrote to /etc/passwd for some reason.

    Ive looked at the file and dont see anything unusual.

    Found the problem

    My machine has multiple network cards.

    IPv6 was causing the issue.

    Adding this line to /etc/postfix/main.cf sorted it

    inet_protocols = ipv4

    Its an SMS Daemon (part of the Gammu package) that scans a MYSQL database for text messages inserted from Nagios....
