@ dragonfly41 - I tried the accepted answer and the second one and it did not work on Ubuntu 17.10.
I booted into an Ubuntu 16.04.3 live session and the Firefox scroll bar follows Gnome terminal...
@vasa1 - Thanks for the reply and suggestion. This didn't work in 17.10 unfortunately. I believe 17.04 also had the skinny Firefox scroll bar.

On my monitor (1920x1200 resolution) the Firefox side scroll bar width measures around 1.5mm - I think this is way too small to easily grab and as a comparison my Windows 10 Edge...

Same on my system. From the panel i also have those expanding lines, not from the menu. It also appears that DRI is off but it was functioning before, maybe Xgl can't use dri.

just a note on firefox 1.5: seems like twice as fast on page loading and re-loading. also disabled ipv6 in "about:config" which helps.
