  1. [SOLVED] Re: Grub2 gone after installing Conky (!) won't boot now.

A combination of changing where the bios looked for boot, as well as a fresh install og 10.10 finally did the trick (I put it on that old 60gb partition, so I can just link to all my old data on the...
  2. [SOLVED] Re: Grub2 gone after installing Conky (!) won't boot now.

Thank you so much for your detailed reply!

I actually tried the Super Grub Disk, which is where I think the legacy Grub files have come from. I'll have a look in the Bios, but I don't see how the...
  3. [SOLVED] Re: Grub2 gone after installing Conky (!) won't boot now.

Found an old 2gb USB, so I'm gonna try booting 9.04 from that, and then burning a copy of 10.10 - still not too sure what I might need to do once that's done though.
  4. [SOLVED] Re: Grub2 gone after installing Conky (!) won't boot now.

If it's any help, I ran the boot info script to get some info:

  5. [SOLVED] Grub2 gone after installing Conky (!), won't boot now.

As the title says, I installed Conky, and when I rebooted, it sat at a blank screen with cursor... I know Conky shouldn't have this effect (and never has before when I've used it), but it's the only...
  6. Re: Azureus Vuze is killing my browsing speed!

I don't think there's much of use in here, but this is what I get starting from terminal:

    file:/usr/lib/jni/ ; file:/usr/lib/java/ ; file:/usr/share/java/Azureus2.jar ;...
  7. Azureus Vuze is killing my browsing speed!

Upgraded to 10.04 on release day, and now whenever I fire up Azureus (I can't get used to 'Vuze'), my Firefox browsing grinds to a halt, many pages simply timing out - repeated refreshes sometimes...

Re: Fudged working Dual Screen setup (nVidia)

Hi Jonners - I think we either need to live without Compiz, or live without the extra screen ATM. As far as your screenshot goes (disclaimer: I am NOT particularly knowledgable here), do you have the...

Re: Fudged working Dual Screen setup (nVidia)

I did enable the Crash Handler plugin, but as Compiz isn't technically 'crashing', there's no output being produced. Although the second screen doesn't display any images, I'm almost certain Compiz...

Re: Fudged working Dual Screen setup (nVidia)

Tried the manual display setting you suggested, but no luck. Checking to see if it's just Rhythmbox now.

Re: Fudged working Dual Screen setup (nVidia)

Broke again, and I didn't touch anything, I swear!

I maximised Rhythmboxon the second screen and everything sputtered down to Metacity again. I just hope we haven't exhausted possible fixes!

    If...

Heh. And now when I do compiz --replace, I get:

Re: Fudged working Dual Screen setup (nVidia)

So to clarify, I should try removing my nvidia driver? And would that simply mean re-installing nvidia-glx-185 in Synaptic?

    Thanks for all the suggestions!
