While I used Ubuntu 7.10, my screen resolution was at 1280x1024 and I loved it. Now, with hardy heron, the highest it will go is 1024x768. Can I "force" it to be at 1280x1024?

When I choose to boot ubuntu, it gets stuck in the loading screen. By loading screen I mean white letters in a black background that say 'loading'... any help?
I think that ubuntu won't load because mi windows partition is called sda2. How do I fix this?
I tried it, but it gave an error when ubuntu was loading. Maybe its because sda2 is my seconde partition, looking at it with gparted from left to right?
During boot it gives me error 19 connot mount selected partition. I think this has to do with the fact that my windows partition is named sda2. What do I do?
