It happened to me too. Remove imwheel and then go to your /etc/X11/Xsessions.d folder and remove all files with imwheel in file name.

What brought me to (K)Ubuntu was Automatix. It does not matter whether or not it stays here or becomes completely independent... what matters is that Automatix or other scripts make switching easier...
