    Re: 5.10: Netinstall Floppies

I'd probably install the server first, then apt-get the xubuntu-desktop package later. That way you have a working system to fix things in.

    Re: 5.10: Netinstall Floppies

Sounds like you're using a module compiled for a different kernel..

I've updated the disks to Edgy(http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=350651). You may have more luck installing using...

    Re: 6.10: Netinstall floppies

Good luck, let me know how it turns out. I've run through the full Ubuntu install whilst checking the disks, but one install doesn't really prove anything. It'll be interesting to see someone else...

    gorilla_king:

They are not archives. They certainly aren't zip files.

What each of these files actually represents is one half of a disk image for a 1.44mb floppy.

    The forum puts limits on...

    6.10: Netinstall floppies

A few people have found the previous versions of these useful so here are the Edgy x86 Ubuntu/Kubuntu/Xubuntu/Server floppies. If you can use another method to install (e.g. Mini ISO, tftp boot, etc)...

Re: Some Enemy Territory helpful hints

This only happens because people use the installer option to start the game.

Install as root and do NOT start the game until you are using your normal account again. Reason for this is that sudo...

    Re: 5.10: Netinstall Floppies

Odd. My guess would be either a corrupted image (So GRUB can't read the disk), or maybe GRUB just doesn't work with your laptop BIOS (Not likely, since win98 sounds like it boots fine and GRUB uses...

WolfET doesn't write anything into the install directory while you're playing.

HOWTO: Stop Wolfenstein ET mods crashing

I don't know how many people play this game, but the information probably applies to a lot of other commercial games too.

    Re: HOWTO: Fix usplash

Fixed the sudo issue in the second method and the "initramsf-tools" typo, but I strongly advise people to use the first method not the second if at all possible.

That's what you get for posting at...

    Re: HOWTO: Fix usplash

Much nicer, I've updated the HOWTO to show that method.

Weird error you had. My only thought is that usplash_write might not have been in the current initrd image. Glad you got it fixed.

    HOWTO: Fix usplash

  25. Re: HOWTO: Adjust Sound Juicer encoder quality setting

That gives you variable bitrate, no set minimum, maximum set to 96kbps. I misread your post, thought you needed to keep them below 96kbps, apologies. min-bitrate is used to set a minimum.
