  1. Re: Ubuntu Touch core apps and Ubuntu Desktop/Legacy core apps...

No, there's some truth to this -- if enough distros drop Shotwell as the default photo manager for Ubuntu Gallery, GNOME Photos, etc., would enough users still be willing to support us? It seems...
  2. Re: Ubuntu Touch core apps and Ubuntu Desktop/Legacy core apps...

I don't think there's a way to make PayPal donations anonymous, unfortunately. We do accept Bitcoin, which is about as anonymous as it gets.

Sure... I mean, it's up to Canonical to decide...
  3. Re: Ubuntu Touch core apps and Ubuntu Desktop/Legacy core apps...

In that case, can I suggest making a donation? We can't continue developing Shotwell without financial support from our users!

[ubuntu] Re: Revert Shotwell to non-PPA version

One thing to keep in mind: Like most apps, Shotwell cannot be downgraded to an earlier version.

    Re: Shotwell issues

Nope, it will export wherever you tell it. Shotwell is non-destructive, i.e. the policy is to never overwrite your original photos.

So far there's no way to select all photos that have been...

    Re: Shotwell issues

If you enable writing metadata in the Shotwell prefs, it will write tags out to the original files. More info here:
    http://www.yorba.org/shotwell/help/other-files.html#writing-metadata

    As far as...

And I'm assuming you filed a ticket for this issue, right?
  8. Re: Shotwell - updated 12 to 14 but can't now launch it

For the most part, Canonical only provides bug fixes, not entirely new versions of software. For that you either have to update the package from a PPA, build it from source, or update to the next...

    Re: camera mounts twice?

I know some Kodak cameras out there have more than one mounting "mode." This is typically set through the camera's on-screen menu. If your camera has that, you might try switching modes and see if...

[ubuntu] Re: best way to do "mac" style in Ubuntu?

Well yeah, it's not a 1.0 by any means! Hopefully we'll be around long enough to deliver a solid 1.0 release, but as we've all seen that's rare in the open source world.

[ubuntu] Re: best way to do "mac" style in Ubuntu?

Have you reported these memory leaks you're seeing? We're not aware of any serious leaks in 0.3.1, though Vala versions prior to 0.20 do have a nasty habit of introducing leaks in certain cases. ...

    Re: Help Fund Geary

We would love to do Exchange support! That said, with a staff of 3 it would take at least a year or two to get right. There's more than one protocol, there's calendering, contacts, etc. etc. It's...

Sorry to hear about this! The best place to get a response for this type of question is the Shotwell mailing list. There's most likely someone there who can help you.

    Re: Ongoing crowdfunding campaigns

Yup! Our crowdfunding campaign is slowing down and we're pretty far from the end goal. If anyone has any ideas for promoting the Geary campaign, we REALLY need some assistance getting the word out.

[ubuntu] Re: Aperture to Shotwell ?

I'm by no means an Aperture expert, but I believe there's a setting to write metadata into the photo files. If you have this set, Shotwell will pick up tags, titles, comments, etc.

    Shotwell has...

    [ubuntu] Re: dist-upgrade removed shotwell

    Good catch!

I think we'll just copy the required GStreamer 1.0 packages into our own PPA and save Precise users a step.

Re: Photo-organizer as good as picasa?

[ubuntu] Re: Previewing CR2 RAW Photo Files in Unity?

The reason the Canon software produces a very different JPEG is that it's reading "secret" metadata in the CR2 file recorded by the camera.
