    [ubuntu] Re: Wireless with keyring

Bumping an old thread, sorry, but I made an important discovery which I haven't found anywhere else!
You can make nm-applet not use keyrings to connect to certain wireless hotspots - therefore you...
  2. Re: 2.6.24 Zen Ubuntu Kernel - Faster, Stable, More Hardware Support

It's more likely that the VMWare module doesn't support the 2.6.24 linux kernel in general, rather than zen, unless zen has broken something (in most recent git).
  3. Re: 2.6.24 Zen Ubuntu Kernel - Faster, Stable, More Hardware Support

:lolflag:. I thought it would be as simple as that. Great work on this .
  4. Re: 2.6.24 Zen Ubuntu Kernel - Faster, Stable, More Hardware Support

Brilliant! :) Thank youI was getting a bit worried here with all the 64 bit updates and no x86 ...

Another thing: When I try to compile the latest zen-sources git, if I use your config, I get this...
  5. Re: 2.6.24 Zen Ubuntu Kernel - Faster, Stable, More Hardware Support

Sorry I was getting confused with compiling modules :P.

Does your .config work with x86? I presume it does, but some kernel features are probably for AMD64 only... or? I'd seen it before, but...
  6. Re: 2.6.24 Zen Ubuntu Kernel - Faster, Stable, More Hardware Support

    sudo -s
    git clone...
  7. Re: 2.6.24 Zen Ubuntu Kernel - Faster, Stable, More Hardware Support

I managed to get zen3 to fully work and boot, and install nvidia drivers the nvidia way (without envy) by using the source in the zen git...

Before when I compiled from the zen3 stable patch,...
  8. Zen is great, it's unbelievably fast, everything...

Zen is great, it's unbelievably fast, everything happens a second before I think it does! Is there going to be a slightly patched version running 2.6.24.2 soon?

    Poll: Re: Master Kernel Thread

Holding enter won't harm anything, it just selects the default option.

mahuyar, I have the avahi-daemon problem as well, is it worth fixing, will it cause any problems not having it running? And...

    Re: Simple formatter

To be honest, I haven't really heard of anybody who uses Windows complaining that they accidently formatted something or other and that they lost a lot of data - and that's people who probably didn't...

    Simple formatter

It's very simple but important - especially for noobs. We need a super-simple formatter. Not like G-Parted which insists on having partitions, but a simple...

    Poll: Re: Easy MP3-player/USB-stick formating

In Windows you have to select the file system and sector size.... What's wrong with that? There should be at least a clone of the Windows format thing in Ubuntu, it's better than not having it at all...
