I've been using Linux only for over a year now, and I'm having the same problem.
I usually use the GIMP for all my image editing, but I'm setting up Ubuntu for my mum and she needs simple photo...
Currently:
16:47:46 up 1 day, 5:07, 2 users, load average: 0.25, 0.20, 0.16
This is a Thinkpad R61 that I usually turn off every night to keep from heating up, but I've been torrenting so...
You'll have to shrink the other partition before you can increase the Ubuntu one.
I turned on the laptop this morning and the red tint is gone.
EDIT: I was online or playing NetHack most of the day, and it's starting to appear again - faintly this time, but it is definitely...
I'm not blaming this on Ubuntu, but I can't find anything on it online and I didn't think it was appropriate anywhere else in the forums. My ThinkPad R61 is about 1.5 years old and today I suddenly...
I have way too much music (over 24 GB of it) on this machine to do a fresh install every time. I haven't done a fresh reinstall since Intrepid, and the upgrades usually go with little to no hitches.
If you want power and versatility, you can't go wrong with Slackware. Slack doesn't even start the window manager until you tell it to (startx does it). It's considered one of the 'advanced' Linux...
My friends were always rather nerdy (even if they aren't Linux/*nix users) so I haven't lost anyone. They know it's better and faster, but they are afraid of Linux's reputation as difficult to use...
They're just removing it from the install disk. If it's already on your system it won't be removed by the upgrade. It'll still be available from the repositories and "Software Centre" for anyone who...
On my machine Privoxy is set to autorun and it works fine. It might just be the settings and packages on my machine, but I don't think it matters except for maybe a slightly better boot time with it...
I'd go with googleearth-package of the three, although when I had it I got it from Google Earth's download page.
I just unchecked the box for Tor, and it worked.
EDIT: if bum isn't working, type
sudo sysv-rc-conf
in terminal, go down to tor, and toggle off all the runlevels for tor.
I got it: you need to enable IP forwarding in Slack. Run as root:
sysctl -w net.ipv4.ip_forward=1
sysctl -p /etc/sysctl.confIf you don't have /etc/sysctl.conf, you'll need to create it and put

Linux really isn't bad at handling laptop batteries. It's just a matter of having the right drivers and keeping the battery from getting damaged by heat. The best thing you can do is remove the...
I second this. Just installed Slackware in virtualbox and can't get it connected. It's only Slackware that can't connect - Damn Small Linux and XP (only for messing around with, I swear!) both...
Bootup manager (bum) fixed it.
If anyone's still watching this, I found it. It's in the preferences, in shortcuts under the Advanced tab. It's buttons 6 and 7 in the mouse setup. Delete the actions for both and it fixes the whole...
I literally just upgraded to the beta now, my battery charge applet is just gone leaving a hole in the icons where it used to be. It's a little over a day until the stable release, but I need that...
I ended up uninstalling GE completely soon after posting this. Just reinstalled now, and the problem is still there, and I see the same error message.
bruno: I tried the script it didn't seem to work. I think Tor might autorun just after startup, or it's lower priority than the autorun script.
It also seems I have to sudo killall with Tor. If I...
I'm not running it in a relay. It just runs on its own at startup.
This isn't so much a problem as an annoyance: Tor autoruns when I start up my machine, and Privoxy can't control Tor if it's already running.
I've been able to work around this by using
sudo...
I know what you mean, and I'm having the same problem. unchecking "start panning" won't fix it. I'm working on (read: googling) a fix to the problem. If I find anything I'll post what I find.
I think it may be an update that is causing the problems, but Google Earth's EULA basically forces you to automatically request and receive updates. I don't know of any way to use an older version of...
