  1. [SOLVED] Re: ppa-purge complains about dependencies and wants to remove half my system

    This exact same thing happened to me, all of it. When I pressed n, ppa-purge kept doing something that involved internal errors and many lines that looked like "open: 2176; closed: 9089; defer: 493;...

    [kubuntu] Is this a sound backup?

    I've switched from using fsarchiver to a new system. I used dd to copy my laptop's entire hard drive to an external hard drive of identical size and changed the UUIDs of the external's copied...

    [kubuntu] Can't change SD card label

    I got a new class 10 8GB SanDisk, and the first thing I did was set a label to my new card: Death Card. Unfortunately, I made a typo and hit enter, and so now it carries the horrendously stupid title...

    [ubuntu] Re: Wireless stops working when lid is closed.

    Was this problem ever fixed? I have it with an HP Touchsmart tm2, Kubuntu 12.04 (also had it in 11.04).
  6. [SOLVED] Re: Ubuntu 12.04, HP Touchsmart tm2, click+drag stops working

    One of the many system updates between that last post and now has fixed this issue at some point.

    [ubuntu] Re: Pidgin loosing facebook messages

    I have a similar problem. It seems to happen with friends who don't appear to be online because Facebook/their connection is being glitchy, or they're using some kind system that just logs in to post...

    A special kind of tracing

    This problem: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/932643 (read the OP, the first post mentioning .pulse-cookie, and the last post by me)

    Long story short, I need a way to figure out what...
  9. [SOLVED] Re: Ubuntu 12.04, HP Touchsmart tm2, click+drag stops working

    Didn't work. It hasn't been updated for 1.6.0 or for Ubuntu 12.04, and the patch it uses doesn't seem to be compatible with 1.6.0. I can't downgrade to this 1.4-1 version without the packages...
  10. [SOLVED] Re: Ubuntu 12.04, HP Touchsmart tm2, click+drag stops working

    I found and installed this: https://launchpad.net/~sergio91pt/+archive/synaptics+clickpads (and I just learned that what I have is called a clickpad, not a touchpad). Future Googlers: if I didn't...
  11. [SOLVED] Ubuntu 12.04, HP Touchsmart tm2, click+drag stops working

    It doesn't happen extremely often, but I'd say about at least once every two days, my touchpad will randomly stop being able to click and drag. I know it's a hardware thing, because a plugged in...

    [ubuntu] Re: 12.04 Upgrade - Apache Errors

    I just now ran into the same errors after a fresh install of 12.04, and it seems that I have to type

    sudo service apache2 restart

    service apache2 restart
    for apache2 to restart...

    [SOLVED] Make a file writable but not removable

    I'm affected by this bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cellwriter/+bug/935277

    It seems nothing is being done to fix it, and it's so ridiculously annoying that I can't wait around for...
  15. [kubuntu] Re: Script only does anything when launched in Terminal

    Thanks! I would use these, except I've grown rather fond of the Magick Rotation set-up I have because my touch screen doesn't turn off when I close the screen, and on my desk I have my desktop and...
  16. Tor/Vidalia broken on update (thanks guys)

    I noticed new versions of Tor and Vidalia in the repository, so I updated them. Now Vidalia is acting as if it was never properly installed on top of tor (and tor is acting the same, because it's...
  17. [kubuntu] Re: Script only does anything when launched in Terminal

    Here's the BIOS version I'm running:

    $ sudo dmidecode --type 0
    # dmidecode 2.9
    SMBIOS 2.6 present.
    ...
  18. [kubuntu] Re: Script only does anything when launched in Terminal

    I'll try the other methods. I'd rather not risk updating my BIOS when I already have buttons for rotating the screen.
  19. [kubuntu] Re: Script only does anything when launched in Terminal

    Confirmed, Magick Rotation won't notice tablet mode.

    $ sudo evtest /dev/input/magick-rotation
    Input driver version is 1.0.1
    Input device ID: bus...

    # These rules were compiled for the Ubuntu/Debian GNU/Linux distribution, but others...

  22. [kubuntu] Re: Script only does anything when launched in Terminal

    I found the xrandr -o [inverted, normal, left, right] command and made shortcuts on my panel, so now I have a manual screen rotation setup that's just as easy as an automatic one. As for the pressure...
  23. [kubuntu] Re: Script only does anything when launched in Terminal

    I'm running the last tm2 they made before switching to iPad clones, but I'll try adding that anyway.

    EDIT: It didn't help, but just now I tried changing the screen orientation with KDE's display...
  24. [kubuntu] Re: Script only does anything when launched in Terminal

    I'm on Intel HD graphics. Unlike every other Touchsmart tm2, this one does not have a problematic [with Linux] ATI card--just the Intel graphics. Here's the output:

    $ lspci | grep VGA
    00:02.0...
  25. [kubuntu] Re: Script only does anything when launched in Terminal

    Pressure works in MyPaint as well. It's definitely a problem with GIMP. You're showing me a lot of awesome programs.
