[ubuntu] Re: Wireless Not working Atheros AR5001

I'm in the same situation with the same chipset. Thing is, the wireless was working for a long time, but seems to have just stopped recently (no updates) and is now hard locked, as the OP said.

  2. Re: wTorrent + rTtorrent installation script: Installing wTorrent on Ubuntu in 3 step

Some notes on the lighttpd config:

    1) You can mount /RPC2 in the torrent directory, so you only need one protected directory instead of two.

    2) "method" => "basic" is not secure. You either...

Re: If you have Windows XP, why do you use linux?

Umm, you can definitely shutdown from the GUI in KDE4. If you can't, there may be either an issue on your system or a bug in Ubuntu specifically. It works for me with KDE4.2 on Arch though.

  6. [other] [minimal] ralink 2760 and no network after resume

I installed XBMC on Intrepid minimal using this guide.

I finally have most of the kinks worked out, except one.

I have no network after resume from RAM. I'm not sure what logs or info to post...

Playing WoW in Wine runs at pretty much full speed. It's been very nice,. However, when I play after 30-45 minutes the screen goes mostly white with some artifacting. I can't even restart X with ctrl...

Just an fyi, the 0.9.21 I put up on the Wiki has the ATI patch, though I haven't been able to test it myself.

Updated the wiki to Wine 0.9.21. This one should fix the ATI crashes. Hooray!
  13. Re: Buying A laptop: nVidia GeForce Go 7200 w/ 256 MB or 7400 w/ 128 MB?

More RAM generally helps with higher texture quality and higher resolutions, otherwise speed is generally more helpful. Also, keep in mind that in a laptop it's likely sharing system RAM.

Re: HOWTO: WoW under 6.06 with Wine - NVIDIA/ATI

Change the line one more time, then do the following.

    chmod 555 ~/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/World\ of\ Warcraft/WTF/Config.wtf

That makes your Config, wtf unwriteable, so it won't get...

    Geforce 6800 OC 128MB
    AMD64 3000+
    2 GB DDR 400

The 6800 is more than twice the power of the x300 though, plus the Nvidia drivers are better.

Try rolling back to 0.9.19 or 0.9.18 like I suggested in my original post. I've read several reports about 0.9.20 doing odd things in WoW.

Re: World of Warcraft with Wine

All I can recomend is playing around with your Wine and WoW settings.

However, if you were only getting 20-40 fps in Windows you may not be able to get anything playable in Wine.
