I've had trouble with GAIM myself this month in both Ubuntu and SuSE. Direct connect worked at one time, but I think there's a network issue now..or so I've been told on other forums.

I switched...more than a year ago I believe. I run Suse on my laptop (currently) and Ubuntu on one desktop, Slackware on another. I'm also in the process of switching my entire office over to Linux.

Despite your experience, Linux does work for many.
What are the details of your wifi card. Odds are, someone can lead you to the appropriate driver.
I'm sort of a "hot" pizza person myself, but most that I know love it cold. Must be an acquired taste. :smile:
