    [ubuntu] Re: Asus K52 / Asus A52

Good to know mahalos, I've upgraded to 10.10 (Asus K52J) and am in a similar situation to you.

My biggest annoyance is the sound - it fails to build the linuxant.deb for me. (same problem as this...

[all variants] Re: Difficulty installing Linuxant ALSA driver

Hi, sorry no help. But I also have exactly the same error.

To at least get your sound back: apt-get remove the linuxant package and then reinstall the linux-image package which if I understand...

    [ubuntu] Re: Asus K52 / Asus A52

jsevi83 - I'm using 64-bit and despite the problems with suspend and hdmi sound i have no unexplained freezes so far.

You can only use 3gb ram with 32-bit so I recommend 64.

    [ubuntu] Re: Asus K52 / Asus A52

    [ubuntu] Re: snd_hda_intel options database

xtrman - you are a legend. Works for me on an Asus K52J.

I added the pinsensed command to /etc/rc.local as well so it auto-starts. I also needed to use g++ in place of gcc.

[ubuntu] Re: Auto run command line

You could add the line into /etc/rc.local which is a file that is run by root at the end of the boot process.

You shouldn't need the sudo part of the command as it will run as root anyway.

[SOLVED] Re: Problems with sound and closing programs

    sudo apt-get install libsdl1.2debian-pulseaudio

Seems to do the trick. Apparently this is fine to do in Ubuntu as it uses pulseaudio anyway, maybe not so good in K/X'buntus.

    Should be fixed in...

    Re: becoming root inside vim

This is exactly what I'd also like to do - I've placed the line in my .vimrc and tried typing w!! which seems to do nothing. What am I missing?
