    I have exactly the same problem!

  2. Re: HowTo: Download YouTube videos (the easy way)

    I have written a little PyGTK video downloader (also commandline) for that; http://code.google.com/p/vdown/
    *promote*

    I hope that's OK here :-)

    Looks like that (also German):...
  3. Re: HowTo: Download YouTube videos (the easy way)

    Have a look at http://code.google.com/p/vdown/ , too, it has a little GTK-GUI and downloads from many video portals (all supported by videograb.de), it saves the files with the original name of the...
  4. Re: [HOWTO] Encrypt whole Feisty installation without reinstalling

    Did you try "hdaX" ?

    greetings
  5. Re: [HOWTO] Encrypt whole Feisty installation without reinstalling

    Hm...
    Boot with a live cd, mount the root filesystem and the boot partition, eg
    /media/ubuntu/ and
    /media/ubuntu/boot
    /media/ubuntu/etc
    etc. ;)

    Then chroot into the system and make a...
  6. Re: [HOWTO] Encrypt whole Feisty installation without reinstalling

    I think you can use UUIDs in crypttab. I can't try ATM because I have hardware problems with my PC... :(
    And you should check if the crypttab, /etc/modules and so are still correct, and then make a...
  7. Re: [HOWTO] Encrypt whole Feisty installation without reinstalling

    Yeah... The personal data is on /home, but if you print something with OOo and this becomes saved in /var/xxx ? You cannot be absolutely sure that this is really secure.... But thanks for the link ;)...
  8. Re: [HOWTO] Encrypt whole Feisty installation without reinstalling

    Try this:
    sudo mount -o bind /dev /media/root/dev
    sudo mount -o bind /proc /media/root/proc

    greetings
  9. Re: [HOWTO] Encrypt whole Feisty installation without reinstalling

    In your crypttab is
    "root /dev/hda3 none luks,retry=1,cipher=aes-cbc-essiv:sha256"
    But you do not load the module aes. As you want to use padlock, try it with another cipher=x in your crypttab. And...
  10. Re: [HOWTO] Encrypt whole Feisty installation without reinstalling

    Could you paste the menu.lst entry here?

    greetings
  11. Re: [HOWTO] Encrypt whole Feisty installation without reinstalling

    Hm... strange. I have no idea what could be wrong. But I know that a libdevmapper-error occurs when you "update-initramfs" in a chrooted-system, too.

    greetings
  12. Re: [HOWTO] Encrypt whole Feisty installation without reinstalling

    @Keyfiles: Just look at the end of the HowTo ;)
    @Alternative Ciphers:
    Add "serpent" to your /etc/initramfs-tools/modules and "sudo modprobe serpent".
    The change
    cryptsetup -c...
  13. Re: [HOWTO] Encrypt whole Feisty installation without reinstalling

    @Quark:
    Do you use a key file? What happens when you try to luksOpen it with a live-cd?

    @Chachee:
    Well, I think this is possible. But I do not really know if you have access to the USB-Stick at...
  14. Re: [HOWTO] Encrypt whole Feisty installation without reinstalling

    Hm. Yes, 'they' could see what is shreddered...

    If you have the time, it'd be really better with urandom. But for my 300GB drive, it would have been at least 8 or 9 times slower.. Hm.

    greetings
  15. Re: [HOWTO] Encrypt whole Feisty installation without reinstalling

    Er...and: If anyone tried it, a post here would be cool! Thank you
  16. [HOWTO] Encrypt whole Feisty installation without reinstalling [Encryption with LUKS]

    This describes how to encrypt a Ubuntu 7.04 (Feisty Fawn) installation. Because we work with a live cd, you can install Feisty and reboot (to test if it works, maybe more than one time [I got some...
