Has anybody figured out how to do a tripleboot?
I just recently got an HP laptop and was wondering if i could do this.
I dont want to lose the quickweb functionality as it seems pretty useful.
There's limewire for linux.
http://www.limewire.com/download/version.php
it works good.. should be pretty much the same as the windows one..
cheers
Edit: double post
you could just edit the menu.lst file if you use grub.
it should say
so that it indicates that its going to the 2nd partition.
I personally havent used wubi before. so im not sure how it...
i just found this..
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/XORGHardy
its about the new xorg.. its for hardy though.
seriously? nobody has an idea? :S
*bump*
if i remember correctly, the new xorg system doesnt use the xorg.conf file anymore.
Can anyone clarify this?
ooh, have you tried booting without the monitor then plugging it in after the boot up and seeing if its failsafe or not? check it locally cause it might only be on failsafe mode when on vnc.
I dont see why it would matter if the monitor is plugged in or not.
It shouldn't care if there is a monitor, maybe there's another problem? when you plug the monitor and boot, does it still go...
you could try getting the alternate installer. which is a text based installer.
Its pretty much the same thing, just without the mouse and graphics. :P
i put mine into /usr/share/icons
i think its much better because even sudo applications can use them.
but then again, im not sure if thats safe or what not.
as regarding to the icon set, if...
do you need a backup of the files? or kinda like an image?
for images, i use a program called Boot It NG. Not sure where to get it though cause someone just sent it to me. lol
have you actually installed ubuntu? or are you just running it off from the cd when it hangs?
Im thinking that you dont have enough ram for the live cd and is the reason why its hanging.
If i remember correctly, there's something with automounting in the gconf-editor.
sorry, im not home right now so i cant check.
Il try to get back here if i find anything.
ahhh, well like the other guy said, you can just install it and make sure you use the manual partition settings. but i think the new partitioner actually detects the windows partition and leaves it...
hi, whats your reason for reinstalling ubuntu? did you make a mistake on some config files? No disrespect. im just asking. :p
hey guys,
Ive just bought an intel atom motherboard, its a 945gclf.
Im using it as a firewall box, but anyway my problem is that the HSF or heatsink fan on the northbridge is way too loud for...
sudo halt now works as well i think.
a quick google came up with this..

they look really helpful..
...
Sony Vaio SZ28GPC
Intel Core Duo T2500
250GB HD
1.5GB RAM
nvidia Geforce go 7400
ubuntu 8.10 beta
Dell poweredge 2650
2x 1.8ghz xeon
5x36gb scsi
are you trying to mount them during boot up?
maybe it goes slow because in order to mount them you need authentication..
but its still booting so it wont ask for it, it only continues to boot...
i just read your reply, if your installing it on another hd, then it should be fine..
all you have to do after is add the windows drive into grub and should boot right up..
windows after linux can be done though, most of the time grub will be overwritten by ntldr.. but you can easily fix this with a live cd..
just do a search on google for fixing grub with live cd...
i found these somewhere, i think theyre developer or test repositories..
